You might also consider Hotel Ocean Vista Bay it’s a bit farther, about half a kilometre, but rooms often stay in the low hundred rupee range in October. The city bus number 32 stops right at the beach entrance, so you can hop off and walk to the INS Kursura Museum in just a few minutes. Have you checked if that bus stops near the museum entrance or if you need a short auto from there?

If you’re already near the falls, give yourself about four hours total. Spend the first hour walking the trails, then another hour near the main pool for the golden glow. A quick 15 minute drive to Lalbagh lets you stroll the gardens before heading back. The terrace at ITC Gardenia, a Luxury Collection Hotel, offers a good spot to sit and catch the morning light over the city.

If you’re staying overnight near the temples, Hotel Annapurna is only about a kilometre away and has good reviews for a 3 star price. From Kolkata the cheapest way is a local train to Bishnupur and then a shared auto or local bus to the temple complex. The auto fare to the temples is usually under ₹30, so you’ll save on both transport and lodging by staying there. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you’re okay with a short wait, the state bus from Araku to the caves runs about every two hours. A taxi takes about 30 minutes and lets you stop at the coffee plantation or the Tribal Museum on the way. If you want a comfortable base in Araku, Casa Woods Resort @ Araku Valley is conveniently close to the main road.

If you’re heading after dark, the last mini bus from Dehradun Bus Stand usually leaves around 9 pm and still stops at Kali Temple. It’s cheaper than a shared taxi from Haridwar. Another option is to catch the local auto rickshaw from the temple stop that takes you back to the station for the next train to Dehradun often a few rupees extra but still budget friendly.

A quick rickshaw from the shrine to the fort usually costs around ₹30 ₹40, so you can hop back and forth without a long walk. If you’re already near the bus stand, the minibus stops every 15 20 minutes, which is handy if you want to avoid a cab ride. Either way, you’ll have plenty of daylight to see both sites.

If you’re okay with a bit more distance, staying at The Estate Resort in Moodbidri gives a flatter route to the temple. The 36 kilometre drive is mostly on level roads, so you’ll reach early for the prasadam and return without the steep climb that Kalasa or Manipal routes can involve. The resort also offers budget rooms that fit a tight itinerary.

If you’re staying in Coimbatore, you could finish the day at Dvara Resort Siruvani after the Isha Yoga Center. The resort is about a 50 minute drive from the Isha campus, so you’d return to the centre with a relaxed evening. It’s a nice way to unwind after the theme park splash and temple visit.

You can stop at the small Bhuntar Devi Temple on the main road it’s a quick 10 minute walk and gives a feel for local devotion. A few streets over is the old Bhuntar market area where you’ll see the traditional wooden houses that show the town’s role as the first trading post for the Kullu valley. If you have a few extra minutes, a short drive to Kullu’s 17th century Raghunath Temple is worth it, and it’s just a 10 kilometre ride from Bhuntar.

A quick plan could be: leave early, hit the falls before sunrise to catch the mist, then drive straight to the visitor centre for the 30 minute wildlife walk. After that, a short drive to The Den Corbett gives you a riverside break before heading back. This keeps the day tight while still letting you see the falls, a bit of park trail, and a relaxing spot.

If you’re planning to hit both sites in one day, it helps to start very early. The drive from Paderu to Araku takes around two hours, then the next leg to the Borra Caves is only about an hour. A private taxi gives you flexibility, especially if you want to pause in Araku for coffee plantation tours or a quick lunch before heading to the caves. If you prefer public transport, the local buses run from Paderu to Araku, but you’ll need to check the schedule for the bus that continues toward the caves, as it can be infrequent. Once you’re in Araku, Casa Woods Resort is a convenient base; it’s close to the main road and the town centre, making the transition to the caves smoother.

You could walk the tunnel, then hop on a bike for a 15 minute ride to Varkala Beach there’s a nice bike path that hugs the cliffs. After a swim, a short walk takes you to Papanasam for a quieter sunset.

If you want to catch the subtle play of light on the carvings, try arriving around 6:00 am and staying until about 11 am. That window gives you the early morning glow and a quiet afternoon before the crowds. A lightweight tripod can help keep the rock cuts sharp, especially if you’re shooting wide angle. If you’re near Kodaikanal, Cloud Walk offers a convenient base and a short drive to the site. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you can start early, head to the Barot Valley first the alpine meadows and the river’s reflection in the early light give great wide angle shots. From there, drive toward the Kullu Valley; the Hotel Kullu Valley A River Facing Boutique Hotel sits right on the riverbank, so you can capture both the valley and the river in one frame. Later, a quick detour to the nearby pass at Bir Billing will let you snap the dramatic mountain backdrop before sunset. In October the mist is usually light, so use a polarising filter to cut glare and bring out the greens of the surrounding biodiversity.

If you’re aiming for a quick visit to Nako Monastery, staying at Hotel Kalpa Deshang gives you a direct 30 km drive and easy taxi drop off near the temple. On the other hand, Zostel Sangla offers a quieter, budget friendly vibe and you could walk the flat 60 km route if you enjoy a longer trek. Which factor matters more to you?
