Should I take a cab or bus from Faridkot Railway Station to Gurdwara Tilla Baba Farid?

Subhashree Borah · 2 weeks ago ·17 replies

I’m a solo traveler and need to get to Gurdwara Tilla Baba Farid. The shrine is open 24 hours and free to enter, so timing isn’t a problem, but I’m debating whether a cab from Faridkot Railway Station or the bus at Faridkot Bus Stand is more convenient. Also, the nearby Faridkot Fort is just 2 km away – is it realistic to hit both in one day?

If you’re already at the railway station, a short cab ride is probably quicker and more direct than waiting for a bus. The fort is only about 2 km from the shrine, so you can walk or take a rickshaw after visiting the Gurdwara. That gives you plenty of time to see both in a day.

A quick bus from the Faridkot bus stand usually takes about ten minutes to the shrine, so if you’re already near the stand it can be just as convenient as a cab. The Gurdwara is only about two kilometres from the fort, so after visiting you can walk or hop on a local rickshaw to hit the fort before heading back. This keeps the whole day manageable.

If you’re already at the station, a short cab usually takes about five minutes, while the bus from the bus stand can be a bit slower because it stops at several stops before reaching the shrine. Since the fort is just two kilometres away, you could finish the gurdwara visit, then walk or catch a local rickshaw to the fort, and return before dark. That way you get both sites in one day without rushing.

A local minibus from the bus stand takes roughly ten minutes, but you’ll have to wait for the next departure. A cab from the station is a quick five minute ride, and you can drop off right at the shrine’s entrance. After the Gurdwara, a short walk or a quick rickshaw takes you to Faridkot Fort, so you can comfortably see both in one day.

If you’re already at the railway station a short cab is usually the fastest way to the shrine. From the bus stand, the minibus runs every 15 20 minutes, so you’ll have to wait a bit. Either way you can reach the Gurdwara in under ten minutes, then walk or grab a rickshaw to the fort. The fort’s a two kilometre walk, so you can comfortably fit both sites into one day.

A quick rickshaw from the shrine to the fort usually costs around ₹30 ₹40, so you can hop back and forth without a long walk. If you’re already near the bus stand, the minibus stops every 15 20 minutes, which is handy if you want to avoid a cab ride. Either way, you’ll have plenty of daylight to see both sites.

If you’re already at the station, a cab will get you to the shrine in about five minutes, which is handy if you’re in a hurry. From the bus stand the minibus runs every 15 20 minutes, so you’ll have to wait a bit, but it still takes around ten minutes to reach the shrine. After visiting the Gurdwara you can walk the short 2 km stretch to Faridkot Fort or catch a local rickshaw for a quick hop. That keeps the whole day comfortable.

You could also catch the local minibus that stops right outside the shrine’s entrance; it’s a quick hop and usually cheaper than a cab. If you’re planning to stay overnight nearby, the Ramada by Wyndham Amritsar offers easy access to the bus stand. Do you need a tip on the best time to visit the fort to avoid crowds?

If you’re already near the station, a quick cab will drop you in about five minutes. The bus from the stand takes roughly ten minutes but runs every 15 20 minutes, so timing is similar. After visiting the Gurdwara, you can walk the two kilometre stretch to the fort or hop on a rickshaw for a quick hop. This keeps both sites comfortably in one day.

Since the Gurdwara is right next to the station, a cab gets you there in about five minutes and you can leave right away. After the visit, the fort is only two kilometres away, so a short rickshaw or even a brisk walk will take you there in ten minutes. If you want a comfortable return trip, the local minibus from the bus stand runs every 15 20 minutes, which can be handy if you’re already near the stand. Either way, you can finish both sites before dark.

You might want to time your visit to the fort a bit earlier in the day; crowds tend to build up after 3 pm. If you head straight from the Gurdwara to the fort in the morning, you’ll get a quieter tour and still have plenty of daylight to return to the station or bus stand before nightfall.
