Weather and route for a weekend trek to Deomali Hill in October?

Tariq Joshi · 5 hours ago ·5 replies

Planning a quick weekend trek to Deomali Hill this October and wondering how the weather will be. Deomali, standing at 1672m, is Andhra Pradesh’s highest peak, and the hill is usually cooler in early autumn. I’m starting from Visakhapatnam – should I take a cab to Paderu first and then drive up, or is there a better route? Also, what temperatures can I expect on a Saturday and Sunday?

A common way is to drive from Visakhapatnam to Paderu first (about 170 km, 4 5 hrs) and then take the forest road up to Deomali. The road is single track and can be slow in wet weather, so leave early. In early October daytime temperatures are usually 10 18 °C, dropping to 5 12 °C at night. If you want a place to stay nearby, USHODAYA RESORTS in Araku is a decent option. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you’re looking for a place to stay near the trailhead, USHODAYA RESORTS in Araku is a good option. The resort is about 12 km from Paderu and offers basic amenities. On a Saturday and Sunday in early October you can expect daytime highs around 12 15 °C and nights dropping to 6 9 °C. The forest road can be slippery, so leaving early and checking local weather updates is a smart move.

You could also stop at Casa Woods Resort @ Araku Valley instead of heading straight to Paderu. It’s about 14 km from the trailhead and has a good view of the forest road. The road can still be slippery in early October, so a quick check of local weather before you set off is wise. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

You could also stop at Casa Woods Resort @ Araku Valley for a quick break before the forest road. It’s about 14 km from the trailhead and gives a good view of the path. The forest road can still be slick in early October, so a quick weather check and an early start are key.
