You could drive straight from the airport to Anantapur, then head to the temple, and from there take a short 80 kilometre ride to Lepakshi. After visiting Lepakshi the Belum Caves are only about 30 kilometres further south. If you need a place to stay near the temple, Hotel O Anantapur is a convenient option.

If you’re willing to stay a bit farther but want a larger room, MG IRIS HOTEL is about 0.47 km from the shrine. It usually offers free Wi Fi and breakfast in the room, which can help keep nightly costs down. Does anyone know if they have any special rates for couples?

The minibus that goes from Puri Bus Stand to the lighthouse usually starts at the stand’s main curb near the bus shelter. If you’re arriving by state bus, try to get off as soon as it reaches the stand so you can hop on the next minibus without waiting long. If you’re staying at Hotel Royal Grand Heritage, you could skip the minibus entirely and walk in just a few minutes.

You could also take a local bus that leaves Udaipur airport around 7 am and arrives at Ranakpur around 9 am. The fare is about 30 rupees and the bus stops right outside the temple. If you need a cheap stay, the WelcomHeritage Maharani Bagh Orchard Retreat is only about 3 km away and offers simple rooms at a reasonable rate.

You could also take the local bus from the Bishnupur station straight to the temple area; the fare is about ₹30 and the ride takes only a few minutes. If you’re staying overnight, a room at Hotel Annapurna keeps you within a kilometre of the temples and usually costs less than a city hotel in Kolkata. It also puts you close to the museum and Jor Bangla, so you can hop between them without extra travel.

You’ll probably see cool, dry afternoons but the forest can stay misty for a couple of hours after a late season shower. Bring a light rain poncho, a quick dry towel, and a small bottle of insect repellent for early walks. If you stay near Ambikapur, Hotel Makhan Vihar gives you a convenient base and a good breakfast before the dew lifts.

A quick shot works best around mid morning when the light falls from the left and highlights the carved panels. Stand just outside the main entrance on the right side; the staircase that drops into the subterranean level gives a good depth cue. If you can step a little inside, the shaft of light that comes up from the bottom of the well will illuminate the carved lintels and make the shadows more dramatic.

In Tipi you can also find a small stall right beside the market that serves yak butter dumplings. They’re fresh and only a few minutes from the bus stop. Have you had a chance to try them yet?

You could also try the western hot spring pool after sunrise it usually stays clear until about 9 am. If you’re staying at Nomads Hostel, it’s only a 2½ kilometre walk, so you can hit the pool early and then head straight to Kasol for a relaxed evening. Does anyone know what the local bus schedule looks like around that time?

The 24 hour taxi runs every 15 20 minutes, and a round trip to Sukhna Lake takes about 45 minutes total, so you can grab a quick bite and a photo stop before heading back. Since the lake and Rose Garden are both inside Chandigarh city limits, you won’t need to cross any border. If you prefer a quick lunch before the walk, the Ginger Chandigarh Zirakpur offers a free shuttle from the airport and a nice spot to refuel.

The Udaan Woodberry Hotel & Spa is only about 0.7 km from the shrine and has a solid 8 star rating, so you can walk in a few minutes. If you prefer a quieter spot a bit farther out, The Bankhim Residency is less crowded and still within a 1 km walk, giving you a quieter environment after a day of visiting.

A quick walk from the village centre takes you past the old Agumbe fort walls that date back to the Vijayanagara period. The stone pillars inside the ruins are a good visual cue for the era. If you’re tight on cash, just bring a notebook and sketch the carvings it’s free and gives a deeper sense of the history. Also, consider staying at a budget place in Udupi, like the Samanvay Boutique Hotel, then catch the 22A bus early to avoid the later crowds. What time do you plan to leave from Udupi?

If you’re looking for a quick bite after the temple, there’s a small dhaba just a few minutes’ walk from Sunita Elite that serves hearty aloo paratha and fresh lassi. It’s family friendly and the staff usually keeps a kids’ corner with simple snacks, so you can grab something quick before heading back to the temple. You could also grab a quick taxi from Shilparamam straight to Golconda Fort it’s about 10 km and takes roughly 20 minutes. After the fort, a short ride to Charminar takes another 15 minutes. If you need a rest spot afterward, the Lemon Tree Premier Vijayawada is a convenient nearby hotel.

If you’re staying close to the beach, the view from the cliffs is great at sunset, but many locals also enjoy a quick windsurfing hop around noon when the wind picks up. After the sunset, a short 4 km drive to Miramar lets you walk the quieter stretch and stretch your legs before heading back. The Hawaii Comforts is just a short walk from Dona Paula for a quick bite or a drink.
