How to avoid crowds at Manikaran Gurudwara this October?

Annette Pandya · 3 weeks ago ·17 replies

We’re planning a visit to Manikaran Gurudwara this October with my partner, but we’ve heard it can get very crowded. Since the Gurudwara is open 24 hours and entry is free, we’re wondering if going early in the morning or later at night helps. Also, is there a spot by the hot springs that’s less packed or a nearby place like Kasol that we can combine with the visit?

If you want a quieter time at Manikaran, try arriving right after dawn, around 5:30 am. The crowds thin out until the mid morning rush. The hot spring pool on the western side of the village, just a short walk from the main square, is usually less crowded than the main pool. After you’re done, you can head to Kasol stay at a place like Nomads Hostel to keep the budget low and still be close to the trailheads.

If you want to beat the midday rush, try arriving around 11 pm. The Gurudwara stays open, and the night crowd is usually thin. After a quick dip in the western hot spring pool, you can head back to Kasol. Staying at Nomads Hostel keeps you close to the trailheads and lets you explore the village after dark.

If you’re aiming for a quieter dip, the western hot spring pool usually gets less footfall after sunrise, around 6 am. Staying a short walk away at Nomads Hostel lets you hit the pool early, then head to Kasol for a relaxed evening.

If you’re aiming for a quieter soak, the eastern hot spring pool tends to be less busy after sunrise. From there you can walk a short distance to the village square and head to Kasol. Staying at The Hosteller Kasol Riverside puts you within a 5 minute walk of the trailheads and gives easy access to the quieter part of the springs.
