Solo traveler: Which hotel near Baba Mandir should I book?

Naksh Malhotra · 3 weeks ago ·17 replies

Baba Mandir is open 24 hours and free to enter, and the Udaan Woodberry Hotel & Spa sits just 0.7 km away, rated 8.0. I’ll be staying in Gangtok but want to visit the shrine daily. As a solo traveler, which of the nearby hotels would you recommend for convenience and comfort?

The Udaan Woodberry Hotel & Spa is only about 0.7 km from the shrine and has a solid 8 star rating, so you can walk in a few minutes. If you prefer a quieter spot a bit farther out, The Bankhim Residency is less crowded and still within a 1 km walk, giving you a quieter environment after a day of visiting.

If you’re looking for a quick walk each day, the Udaan Woodberry Hotel & Spa is the most convenient. It’s less than a kilometer from the shrine and has a solid 8 rating. The rooms are modern, and the on site spa can help unwind after a long day of walking. If you want a quieter vibe, you could consider The Bankhim Residency, which is still within a 1 km walk but tends to be less crowded.

If you’re willing to walk a little further but still want a nice stay, Rufina Pinasa Residency is about a kilometre from the shrine and has a higher 8.6 rating than the Udaan. The rooms are well rated and the property offers a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere, which can be handy after a long day of visiting the temple.

If you’re looking for a quiet spot that still keeps the shrine within a short walk, consider The Bankhim Residency. It’s just under a kilometre away and offers a calmer atmosphere than the busier Udaan. The rooms are decent and the price point is reasonable for a solo stay. You’ll have plenty of time to relax after your daily temple visits.

You might want to try the Sinclairs Gangtok. It’s a little farther at about 1.46 km, but the rooms are spacious and the staff usually offers a complimentary local breakfast that’s good for a quick pre temple meal. The location still keeps the shrine within a short walk, and the property has a quiet courtyard that’s nice for winding down after a day of walking.

If you’re okay with a short walk but want a bit more space, consider the Hotel Tempo Heritage Resort And Spa. It’s a little farther at about 1.5 km, but the rooms are larger and the resort has a nice garden area where you can unwind after a day at the shrine. The location still keeps the temple within a manageable walk.
