Blossom International Park was set up in the early 1990s as a community green space, but the exact year isn’t listed on its site. If you’re staying near Thrissur, the Hyatt Regency Thrissur is a convenient base. From there you can walk to the Vadakkunnathan Temple, then head a short drive to the 19th century Punnathur Kotta Palace, which offers both historic architecture and landscaped gardens that echo the park’s focus on nature.

If you’re heading straight from Itanagar, a quick pick up at Hotel Su Pinsa is handy they usually have a local driver who knows the exact turn at Mechukha. The drive via NH13 to Bomdila and then a short taxi hop is about three hours, so leaving mid morning keeps you out of the afternoon heat. If you prefer flying, Lilabari takes you a bit farther out, but the road from there to the valley is winding and adds a couple more hours. Arriving just after sunrise gives you a quieter walk and cooler temperatures.

You might also try the local minibus that stops right at the mosque’s gate it’s often called the “Old City” route and the fare is just a few rupees more than the regular city bus. If you’re staying at Super Hotel O Ajmer Central, the hotel can arrange a shared auto for you on request, which saves a bit compared to hailing one on the street. Have you looked into whether the hotel offers a shuttle or any partnership with local transport?

If you’re staying at Vishnu Lok near the station, you can drop the kids off right next to the train platform and then hop on a quick 10 minute taxi or the local bus to Simtola. The bus leaves about every 15 minutes, and the first departure after 6 pm tends to be less crowded, so if you want a quieter ride aim for that slot. This keeps the family together and cuts the extra luggage handling you’d have to do at the main bus stop.

Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace is usually busy on the main weekend days, and it gets a big push during Dussehra when the nearby temple festivals spill over. If you want a quieter visit, try a weekday morning early in the week the palace tends to be less crowded before the afternoon rush. Staying at a nearby hotel like Super Collection O Metro Park Opposite Kalasipalya Bus stand can give you easy access to the site and a comfortable base for a short day trip.

You could also hit the east facing section of the car gallery early in the morning the indirect light from the skylight keeps the chrome from glare and lets you get clean shots of the detailing. For the royal costumes, the lower floor hall has a large arched window that lets in a soft wash, which is great for capturing the texture of the embroidered silk without harsh shadows. If you have a few extra minutes, a quick stroll to Riverside Palace’s terrace still fits in a quick river backdrop without much walking.

If you’re aiming for the biggest chance of a tiger sighting, try the late afternoon safari that’s when the animals come out to feed. Pair it with a sunrise mangrove boat to catch the dolphins when the water is calm. After either activity, a short walk around the lake during winter can reveal the bar headed geese and painted storks that flock in. If you stay near Bhubaneswar, Hotel O Saket Homes keeps you close to the gates.

If you’re heading from Nainital, the shared taxi usually departs early morning around 7 am and takes about an hour and a half to reach Jauljibi. Arriving before noon gives you a full day to walk the confluence and explore the fair stalls before the evening crowds swell. This timing also keeps you out of the late afternoon heat that can hit early May.

If you’re staying at The International by Tunga, a 9 am start gets you through the caves before the afternoon heat and still leaves you plenty of time to stroll the roughly 1 km to Juhu Beach. You’ll arrive by about 6:15, which is just before the evening crowd starts to swell, giving you a relaxed sunset walk without the midday rush.

You could turn the walk into a quick scavenger hunt. Ask the kids to spot the carved wooden doors, note the calligraphy styles, and then guess who each inscription might refer to. A quick stop at a nearby tea stall gives a chance to ask locals about Tipu’s legacy. If you’re staying at KK Comforts, you can grab a local snack there before heading back to the fort.

If you’re after the best twilight shot of the western rampart, try arriving around 5:45 pm. The sun will be low enough to cast a warm rim on the carvings but still give a clear view of the hill backdrop. After that, a quick drive to Pushkar Lake around 7 pm lets you capture the lake’s reflection under a soft evening sky. Staying at The Fern Residency keeps the commute short.

Natha Top stays open from sunrise to sunset, so you can hit the summit early for clear skies. In September the temperature usually stays between 10 °C and 20 °C, and while there are brief afternoon showers, the mornings are often dry and sunny. If you prefer a place to relax after the drive, The Khyber Himalayan Resort & Spa in Gulmarg is a popular choice.

If you’re up for a short walk, the Hornbill Nest Resort is only about a kilometre away and its garden stays dry even when clouds roll in. It’s a good spot to stretch your legs and grab a coffee before the afternoon showers.

You might also consider a quick stop at Silent Valley National Park. The entry fee is nominal, and a local bus from the main bus stand runs every hour. Once you get off, a shared auto to the park entrance costs just a few rupees. It’s a low cost nature walk that fits nicely after visiting Thattekad.

If you only have a few minutes, start at the 1579 stone façade and head straight inside to the 16th century iconostasis, then finish at the side chapel with the early pulpit. Just across the road is the small Dutch style gatehouse an interesting colonial relic that’s quick to glance at. Afterward you could grab a coffee at Hotel Aida before heading back on the road.
