If you’re up for a bit more walking, a loop that starts at Serolsar Lake, climbs to Jalori Pass, then comes back through the forest corridor of the national park gives you water, high altitude views and a chance to spot deer or musk deer. The lake is only 15 km from Jibhi, so you can hit the pass in the morning and still enjoy a sunset by the water before heading back to Jibhi or a short drive to Royal Mansion in Bhuntar for a relaxed evening. How long are you planning to spend on the day?

If you’re okay with a bit more space, the Collection O Aryan Address is only about 600 meters from the temple and its rooms are noticeably larger than FabHotel’s. It still keeps you within a short walk and offers a quieter vibe. For a quick Assamese bite, the Bihu Dhara on the opposite side of the street is a good spot.

October mornings are usually clear enough for early surf and the water stays warm enough for kitesurfing or snorkeling. The sunset line is often visible after the monsoon rains have cleared, so you’ll get a good view. If you want a quick side trip, the Submarine Museum opens at 10 am and the Kailasagiri park is about a 15 minute drive. The beach is less crowded than December, but expect a few weekend crowds. Staying at Hotel The Supreme keeps you within walking distance of the shore.

The walk from Hotel Park Residency to the museum is just over a kilometre, so you can start early and get the bamboo garden before the bus leaves. After the falls, you can catch the same line back to Nilambur just ask the driver to drop you at the same bus stop you boarded.

A quick airport taxi will drop you right in front of the Taluka bus stand around 7:30 am. That way you’ll catch the first Rishikesh bus at 8 am. If you prefer a quiet start, you could consider staying at Vatsyayana a five star resort about 31 km out before heading back to the city.

You might try a midday shot too the sun from the east gives a soft wash that lets you see the stone carvings in detail before the sunset glow takes over. If you finish at Golghar, the round mound looks striking against a clear sky, and from there you can capture the temple’s silhouette with the museum’s facade in the background. Do you have a preferred camera setting for low light?

A quiet spot is the northern balcony just before dawn. The sun will rim the carved panels without harsh glare, and the courtyard stays empty. From there you can frame the full dome and catch the gold leaf in soft light. If you’re staying at Lemon Tree Hotel Rajkot, the walk from the parking to that balcony takes about five minutes.

If you’re staying at Hotel Centre Point, you could leave the hotel early, grab a quick snack from the café near the garden entrance, then head to the Tulip Garden. A 10 minute walk gets you to the 1.5 million tulips, and a short Shikara ride from the shore gives the kids a gentle view of the lake and the gardens without cutting into your schedule. This combo lets you enjoy the bright colors and a calm boat glide in a single, relaxed half day.

You could also head to the Kaveri River stretch near Sankagiri; the riverbank has a small picnic spot and is only about 25 km from the sanctuary. It’s free and offers nice views. If you’re already in the area, a shared auto from the sanctuary’s bus stand can drop you there for a few rupees, and the same route works to reach Hosur and Krishnagiri Dam.

If you’re staying near the zoo, you might also check out the small food court on the south side of the park. They serve fresh fruit smoothies and a few hot snack options that kids usually like. Also, the “Tirupati Diner” has a kids’ menu with mini pizzas and chicken nuggets, so it’s a convenient spot if you need a quick, family friendly meal. Are you planning to bring your own snacks or would you prefer to rely on the on site options?

You might want to start the day with the planetarium’s 12 minute film on the 1963 flood before heading to Kamakhya. The temple’s morning chants begin around 6 am, so an early museum exit gives you a relaxed drive and plenty of time to soak in the spiritual atmosphere. If you’re staying near the city, The Greenwood Resort keeps both spots within easy reach.

October is a good choice the monsoon is done, trails are dry and the lake is crystal clear. You’ll see fewer tourists, so the western loop gives great reflection shots. If you need a base, Vatsyayana A Himalayan Boutique Resort is nearby and has a quiet riverside spot for early morning walks. Have you mapped out the eastern gate to hilltop viewpoint yet?

If you want a quick break after the flight, a short walk from Kabbalamma to the garden is fine, but you’ll finish right before the 6 pm closing time. A better option is to head straight to the temple, then take a taxi to Lalbagh as it shuts. If you need a place to stay nearby, Vivanta Bengaluru on Residency Road is just a few minutes away and will keep you refreshed for the next day.

If you’re already heading to the Sela Pass, keep an eye on the small memorial plaque on the road that marks the exact route used by Indian troops during the 1962 war. A short detour from the falls to the old Nuranang barracks gives a similar snapshot, and after the trek you could drop by Awoo Resort in Bomdila for a relaxed stay.

If you’re okay with a short drive, try the viewpoint that’s a bit uphill from the main trail. It gives a tighter, vertical frame of the 750 foot drop and lets you avoid the crowds that gather at the lower loop. A small stack of stones can serve as a makeshift tripod for a phone, and shooting just after sunset can catch the mist glowing in the soft light.
