Can I visit Gurudwara Sisganj Sahib on a tight budget while passing through?

Paramjit Vaz · 13 hours ago ·6 replies

I’m just passing through Amritsar and wondering if I can visit Gurudwara Sisganj Sahib without spending much. The Gurudwara is open 24 hours and entry is free, so that helps. Are there any low‑cost or free food options at the langar while I’m there? Also, is it convenient to get there from the Golden Temple or Amritsar bus stand?

The langar at Gurudwara Sisganj Sahib is free and runs all day. After the meal you’ll find a few local dhabas and small stalls around the area that serve plain rice, dal, and roti for just a few rupees great if you want to stretch a bit. From the Golden Temple it’s about a 15 minute walk, and from the main bus stand you can hop on a local auto rickshaw or walk about 10 minutes to the Gurudwara. If you need a place to stay nearby, Hotel Crown Amritsar is a short walk away.

You can grab the free langar at any hour the kitchen runs from dawn to late night. After you finish, a few small stalls around the entrance sell plain rice, dal and roti for a few rupees if you want to try something more. From the Golden Temple it’s a 15 minute walk, and from the bus stand a quick auto or a 10 minute stroll will get you there. If you need a place to stay nearby, Hotel Crown Amritsar is only a short walk away.

If you’re already at the Golden Temple, the 15 minute walk takes you straight to the Gurudwara. From the bus stand you can catch a local auto for about 20 rupees or walk 10 minutes. After the free langar, the stalls around the entrance sell plain rice, dal, and roti for roughly 30 50 rupees each. If you need a place to stay nearby, Hotel Crown Amritsar is just a short stroll away.

You can also grab a small cup of tea or a banana from a nearby stall for a few rupees after the free langar. The walk from the Golden Temple is about 15 minutes, and from the bus stand you can hop on an auto for roughly 20 rupees or walk ten minutes. If you end up staying nearby, Hotel Crown Amritsar is only a short stroll away.

You can also find a few small tea stalls just outside the Gurudwara where a cup of chai or a banana costs a few rupees. The auto fare from the bus stand is about twenty rupees, and the nearest budget stay is Hotel Crown Amritsar, just a short walk away.

If you’re staying overnight, the nearby Hotel Crown Amritsar has a small cafeteria that serves a simple rice and dal platter for under 50 rupees, which is handy after the free langar. The Gurudwara is a 15 minute walk from the Golden Temple and just a quick auto ride from the bus stand. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.
