Late afternoon arrival: Kabbalamma Temple or Lalbagh first?

Rituparna Gill · 1 week ago ·17 replies

I’ll be landing in Bangalore in the late afternoon and want to plan my first stop. Since the Kabbalamma Temple is open 24 hours and has no entry fee, it could be a convenient option right after arrival. Lalbagh Botanical Garden is only about 5 km away, but I’m not sure if it stays open long enough for a visit after the day’s travel. Would it be better to head straight to the temple for a quick pooja and then walk to Lalbagh in the evening, or is there a more efficient sequence?

You could head to Kabbalamma right away it’s open all night and free, so you’ll get a quick pooja and then a short walk to Lalbagh. The garden usually closes around 6 pm, so you’d finish just before that. If you want a place to stay nearby, the Vivanta Bengaluru on Residency Road is only a few minutes away and has good reviews.

Since Lalbagh usually closes around 6 pm, you’ll almost certainly miss the sunset view if you head straight there after a late afternoon flight. A quick stop at Kabbalamma gives you a peaceful start, and the walk to the garden takes about 30 minutes. If you want to stay nearby, the Vivanta Bengaluru on Residency Road is only a few minutes away and has good reviews. After the pooja you could grab a taxi to the garden right before it shuts.

If you want a quick break after the flight, a short walk from Kabbalamma to the garden is fine, but you’ll finish right before the 6 pm closing time. A better option is to head straight to the temple, then take a taxi to Lalbagh as it shuts. If you need a place to stay nearby, Vivanta Bengaluru on Residency Road is just a few minutes away and will keep you refreshed for the next day.

If you’re worried about missing the 6 pm cut off at Lalbagh, a quick taxi from Kabbalamma straight to the garden will get you there in about 10 15 minutes. The ride costs roughly ₹200 ₹250 and you’ll still have a few minutes to stroll before closing. Afterward, you could drop by Vivanta Bengaluru, Residency Road for a quick refresh before heading to your next stop. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

A quick 10 minute taxi from Kabbalamma straight to Lalbagh will give you a few minutes before the 6 pm closing. If you’d rather stay near the temple, the Vivanta Bengaluru, Residency Road is just a few minutes away and can serve as a good base for the next day. Does the timing of your flight match the temple’s evening pooja schedule?
