If you’re shooting in the early afternoon around 2 pm, the sun is high enough to fill the shadows on the play equipment, giving a more even tone without a tripod. A quick reflector on a nearby bench can help bounce light onto the kids’ faces, and the bench near the pond offers a ready made low profile support if you need a bit more stability.

The western watchtower lights up a bit earlier than the main gate, so if you arrive around 4 5 pm you can catch the lanterns flare up there before heading down to the eastern rampart for the city view. After that, a quick walk back to the fort’s main gate lets you enjoy the full glow of the courtyard. If you want to stay close, Townhouse OAK Hotel C Pearls in Bahadurgarh is just over seven kilometres away and offers a nice terrace for evening views.

If you’re okay with a quick detour, head to the small clearing just before the falls where the spray creates a natural mist. Placing your phone on a low tripod or a flat stone lets you capture the full 750 foot drop without a wide angle lens. The mist also softens the light, giving a dreamy look that works well in the late afternoon.

If you’re only short on time, a quick walk through the Rock Garden will let you see the recycled sculptures and then you can head straight back. If you can spare a little extra, the Punjab Cottages offer a shaded courtyard where you can sit, stretch, and maybe grab a coffee at The Piccadily Hotel Chandigarh nearby before you resume driving.

If you’re okay with a bit of travel time but want the kids a quieter spot, staying at Resort Borgos in Kaziranga keeps you close to the park while the resort’s own grounds stay calm even when the park is busy. It’s about 97 km from Kheroni, so you’ll get a relaxed base without the weekend crowds.

If you’re aiming to stay very close to the lighthouse, the E Hotel is about 2.8 km away and still within walking distance to Marina Beach. It’s cheaper than the upscale Taj options and you won’t need to pay a ticket fee for the lighthouse. Just a short auto ride gets you there in minutes, saving on both travel time and transport costs.

You might want to try Rufina Pinasa Residency. It’s a little over a kilometre from the shrine and has an 8.6 rating, so the rooms are a touch bigger than Udaan’s. The property also has a quieter courtyard that’s handy for unwinding after a long day at the temple. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

You could finish the Durtlang hike by heading back toward the city and stopping at the nearby local market on the way to Thangliana Lung. The stalls there sell fresh bamboo tea and small snacks that pair well with the panoramic view. If you need a place to unwind after the trek, the Emerald Hotel is just a short walk from the monument.

If you’re planning a family trip, try heading to the temple around mid morning when the crowds are lighter and the air is cooler. After you’re done, take a short walk to Kangla Fort the kids love the open spaces and the old watchtowers. For a nearby stay, Hotel Yaiphaba is less than a kilometre from the temple and is known for its family friendly rooms. Do you know if you’ll need a pick up from the airport or prefer a taxi?

If you’re only planning a quick loop, you could walk from the Hanumanji Temple to Sabarmati Ashram in about fifteen minutes. From the Ashram, a short auto rickshaw hop gets you to Kankaria Lake. The lake’s entry is free, so you can stroll around the lake’s perimeter and grab a snack from the stalls without extra cost. If you need a place to stay nearby, the Lemon Tree Hotel Rajkot is a budget option a few kilometres away.

You might also consider a quick stop at the ridge just south of Tam Dil. It’s only a few minutes drive, and the viewpoint offers a 360 degree look over the valley. Pull in, stretch your legs, snap a photo, then head back before your half day is up. If you need a place to rest afterward, the Urban Living (A Low Cost Hotel) in Aizawl is a short ride away.

If you’re heading in late April, the trail is usually still clear but the light is a bit cooler, giving a crisp, bright view of the lake. The sunset then comes a bit earlier, around 6:30 PM, so you’d need to reach the viewpoint by then. Staying a bit closer, like at Lidder View Resorts, lets you enjoy the sunset from a terrace without a long trek back.

A quick picnic lunch with homemade sandwiches works great for the kids the island has plenty of shade and a few small spots to sit. For getting there, the cheapest option is a local bus from Bhubaneswar or Puri; the routes to the jetty run regularly and cost only a few rupees. If you stay nearby, the Golden Tree in Puri is a decent budget base that’s close to the jetty and the airport.

You can also ask the driver at Dimapur Airport to use a seat belt strap for the camera bag; many taxis keep it in the back seat so it doesn’t shift. If you stay in Kohima, Niraamaya Retreats Aradura is only about two kilometres from the route to Kisama and has a dedicated parking area that can hold camera gear securely.

If you’re staying at WelcomHeritage Panjim Inn, you can hop on the same 24 hour local bus that serves the old town. The bus runs every 10 15 minutes, so you can drop off at the Fontainhas stop, walk to the church, then catch the next bus to the beach without buying extra tickets. This keeps transport to a single fare and lets you move between all the free sites easily.
