The 15 minute bus from Pathankot station is the quickest way to the fort’s bus stand. If you’re staying at Best Western La Vista Pathankot, the stop is only a few kilometres away. On the way you can pause at the tea stall outside the bus stop for a chai before heading up the fort. The Shahpur Kandi Barrage is a nice spot for a river shot, especially in the early morning when the light is soft. A phone camera will capture the stonework fine; a small tripod helps steady the barrage shots. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you’re staying at Hotel Krishna Continental, the Rose Garden is only about a kilometre away. A quick taxi from the museum straight to the garden cuts the walk by half, then you can stroll the final 1.5 km to Chetak Park. This keeps the whole loop well under two hours.

The cable car usually shuts down a few minutes before sunset, so you’ll likely miss the last ride. Paragliding is strictly daytime. If you’re hungry, the Kangri café stays open till about 8 pm and serves quick Himachali thalis perfect for a quick bite before heading back to Manali.

If you’re already in Dehradun, you could catch the overnight local bus that departs around 5 pm. It arrives in Rudraprayag by 8 pm, so you’re ready for a 6 am sunrise at Bright End Corner. Staying a night at Himalayan Comforts gives you a short auto ride to the viewpoint and a chance to rest before the early light.

If you’re heading up the Gurez road, the gravel stretch can slow you down a bit, especially after rain. A good mid trip stop is the Khaplu Palace viewpoint nice photo ops before the road gets slick. If you need a place to unwind after the drive, The Khyber Himalayan Resort & Spa in Gulmarg is a solid choice.

You might also glance at the old Dutch style gatehouse right next to the church it gives a quick sense of the colonial influence. If you have a few extra minutes, the nearby St. Joseph’s Church on the same street is worth a quick look. Afterward, a coffee at Hotel Aida, just under a kilometre away, will give you a quick break before you keep driving.

You could start by dropping your bags at Capital O Siddartha Grand, then head straight to Undavalli Caves. After a quick visit, a 3 km drive gets you to Prakasam Barrage for a river photo break. From there, take the hill road to Kanaka Durga; it’s a single lane but clear before 10 am, so you’ll hit the temple before sunset. This order keeps the traffic low and gives you a nice progression from caves to river to hilltop.

If you’re hoping for a longer twilight, late December is a good choice the sun sets around 6:30 pm and the cooler air makes the evening walk more pleasant. A shared taxi can be booked a day ahead and will drop you right at the lakeside entrance, so you won’t have to wait for a bus after you arrive.

You could also consider stopping at the Prakasam Barrage early for a quick photo of the Krishna river before heading to the caves. The road from the barrage to the caves is a single lane but the view of the surrounding wetlands is worth it. If you’re looking for a convenient spot to drop your bags, Capital O Siddartha Grand is just a few minutes from the airport.

If you want something quick and authentically Gujarati, head to the stalls near the main road opposite the temple. They serve dhokla and khandvi fresh, and a few vendors also sell spicy samosa and fresh coconut water. For a sit down bite, the restaurant inside Hotel Aditya Mansingh Inn offers Gujarati thali with a local twist, and it’s only a short walk from the museum.

If you’re heading out in September, try starting before 6 am the forest is cooler then and the waterfall still has good flow. Staying at Vishnu Lok near the railway station keeps you close to the roads and lets you hit all three spots in one day.

If you’re heading from Kokrajhar station, a shared auto rickshaw can be a cheaper option than a private taxi; they leave every 20 minutes and cost around ₹950. Just be aware that the road can get congested after 5 pm, so if you need to be on time for a park entry, aim to leave by 4 pm. Also, the local minibus from Gossaigaon bus stand drops off right at the town centre, so you can walk to the park entrance from there.

If you’re aiming for the early light, try arriving a bit before 5:30 am on the equinox. The sun will be just above the horizon, casting a warm glow on the stone carvings. Staying at Modhera Sunrise Resort gives you a short walk to the temple and lets you catch the sunrise a little earlier than from the town.

If you’re already staying near Dhokamale, a quick stop at Kokanwadi Resort for a coffee before heading to the lighthouse can break up the walk. From the airport or bus stand, an auto to the lighthouse is about 10 15 minutes, then a 20 minute walk to Mandvi Beach. Aim to hit the lighthouse around 4 p.m. so you catch the sunset at the beach right after.
