Early morning arrival at Hazaribagh NP – what nearby spots to hit?

Chinmay Prasad · 3 days ago ·10 replies

I’ll be at Hazaribagh National Park early in the morning and the park is open 24 hours. I’m looking for nearby places that are worth a quick visit before the day gets busy. Rajrappa Temple is only 28 km away – is it worth a short trip on a weekday morning? Also, any other nearby attractions that work well with a morning arrival?

Rajrappa Temple is only 28 km away and on a weekday morning it’s usually quiet, so a quick drive there after the park is doable. If you have a bit more time, you could stop at the small town of Hazaribagh itself to grab a coffee before heading back. The drive takes about 45 minutes each way, so you’ll still have a few hours to enjoy the temple’s architecture and the river view. If you’re staying in Ranchi, the Radisson Blu Hotel offers a good base and easy access to both the park and the temple.

If you have an extra hour or so after the park, consider stopping by the nearby village of Jambusar. It has a small 17th century temple and a scenic riverbank that’s quiet in the morning. The drive is only about 15 minutes from Hazaribagh, so you can fit it in before heading to Rajrappa or back to your base. If you’re staying in Ranchi, the Radisson Blu Hotel is a convenient starting point.

Rajrappa is a good choice if you can spare a couple of hours; the river view is especially nice in the early light. If you want something closer, the village of Jambusar is only fifteen minutes away and has a quiet 17th century temple and a calm riverbank that’s ideal for a quick stroll before the day gets busy. From there you can head back to Hazaribagh National Park or to a hotel like the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ranchi for a relaxed break.

If you have a window of about two to three hours, you can actually walk a short stretch along the Rajrappa riverbank after visiting the temple. The early morning light makes the stone steps and the water flow look almost otherworldly, and there’s a small pavilion where you can sit and take in the view without any crowd. It’s a nice, quiet break before the day gets busy.

A quick stop at the old Jain temple in Hazaribagh town can be a nice break. It’s only a 10 minute drive from the park and the morning light on the stone steps is pretty peaceful. If you’re staying in Ranchi, the Radisson Blu Hotel Ranchi gives you a convenient base to head back after the temple. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

Rajrappa is about 28 km from the park, so a quick drive takes roughly 45 minutes each way. If you leave the park around 6 am you’ll catch the early light over the river and the temple steps will be almost empty. Just before you head back you could stop for a quick coffee in Hazaribagh town the old Jain temple there is only a 10 minute drive from the park. If you’re staying in Ranchi, the Radisson Blu Hotel is a convenient base to refuel after the walk. What time do you plan to leave the park?

If you’re heading back to Hazaribagh town after the temple, the local market on the main road is a quick stop to grab a chai and a light bite before the day gets busy. It’s only a few minutes from the park and gives a feel for the town’s morning bustle.
