Quick Activities at Connaught Place While Passing Through

Pranav Mukherjee · 4 days ago ·11 replies

I’m just passing through Delhi and will be near Connaught Place. I’m looking for a quick activity that doesn’t take a whole day. What would you recommend? Also, is there anything nearby within a 5 km radius that I should see?

If you only have a couple of hours, a walk to India Gate from Connaught Place is quick and scenic. From there you can stroll to the nearby R.K. Memorial, which is less than a kilometre away. Both spots offer a nice mix of history and a relaxed atmosphere, and you can grab a quick bite at a nearby café before heading back.

A quick walk to the Janpath market is about a 10 minute stroll from Connaught Place and you’ll find a mix of street food stalls, handicrafts, and a few small boutiques. If you’re looking for a quick coffee or bite, the cafés around Janpath serve up chai and samosas in a lively setting. It’s a nice way to soak in local life without spending a full day.

You could also pop into the nearby National Museum. It’s just under 4 km from Connaught Place and offers a quick, free walk through of Indian art and history. If you have a bit more time, the museum’s glass roof and the nearby Hauz Khas Village give a nice contrast to the city center.

You might also walk to Lodi Gardens, about a 3 kilometre walk from Connaught Place. The park is flat, has a few historic tombs and a nice pond, making it a quick, relaxing stop. If you’re looking for a coffee, the cafés around the gardens serve good local blends.

You could also take a quick ride to the Delhi Railway Museum, which is just under 3 km from Connaught Place. It’s a small, free exhibit that shows old locomotives and offers a quick glimpse into the city’s rail history. After that, a short walk back lets you spot the street art around the old Railway Station area. If you’re curious, are there any local cafés near the museum that serve authentic paratha?

If you’re near the National Museum, you can walk a few minutes to the Café 5th Avenue just outside the entrance. It’s a good spot for a quick tea and a slice of apple pie, and the seating overlooks the museum courtyard.
