What’s the best time to visit Bright End Corner for sunrise?

Sujay Contractor · 1 month ago ·22 replies

I’m planning a quick trip to Bright End Corner to catch the sunrise. The spot is open 24 hours and entry is free. Since I’m staying near Dehradun, how should I get there from Jolly Grant Airport? Also, is there a particular month that gives the most vivid sunrise views?

From Jolly Grant Airport you can catch a shared taxi or a local bus heading east toward Rudraprayag; the journey takes about an hour and a half. Once you reach Rudraprayag, a short local auto or rickshaw will get you to Bright End Corner. If you’re staying near Dehradun, a day trip by taxi is the most straightforward option. I’ve heard that the winter months, especially December and January, often give the clearest sunrise colors, but the best time can vary from year to year. Have you checked any local weather patterns or sunrise times for the specific dates you’re planning?

If you’re heading straight from Jolly Grant, a shared taxi to Rudraprayag is the quickest way, then switch to a local auto that will take you directly to Bright End Corner. The drive from Rudraprayag to the viewpoint is only about 20 kilometres. If you prefer a place to stay nearby, Himalayan Comforts in Rudraprayag offers comfortable rooms and is only a short ride from the spot. The best sunrise colors usually come in late November to February when the air is clearer.

If you’re heading out early, a local bus from Dehradun to Rudraprayag usually leaves around 5 pm the night before, so you can catch the 6 am sunrise at Bright End Corner without a long night’s wait. The view is especially striking in late November when the air is crisp and the sun climbs just above the Himalayan silhouette. Have you checked the local bus schedule for your exact dates?

If you’re staying near Dehradun, a quick option is to take a shared taxi from Jolly Grant Airport straight to Rudraprayag, then hop on a local auto that drops you at Bright End Corner. The drive from the airport to Rudraprayag is about two hours, and the final stretch to the viewpoint is only 20 25 kilometres. If you’d like a place to rest before the sunrise, Himalayan Comforts in Rudraprayag is a convenient option and only a short ride from the spot. The clearest, most vivid sunrise colours tend to appear from late November through February when the air is crisp and the clouds are thin.
