You could try a shared 4 wheel drive that takes you from Kangpokpi to Loktak early, then drop you at the boat launch right before the sunrise tide phumdis look most vivid then. On Day 2, instead of heading straight to the fort, stop at the Kangpokpi market for a quick tea before the drive to Keibul Lamjao; the kingfisher trail is just a half hour walk from the park gate. If you stay at Classic Grande Imphal, the concierge can line up a daily taxi to cover all three legs.

If you’re staying at Sea Shell Coral Cove, just walk to the Port Blair jetty and hop on a local ferry that leaves every 30 to 45 minutes. The 30 minute ride takes you straight to the calm reef on Sanket Island, where kids can try snorkeling with a mask and fins or just play in the shallow sand. A small inflatable raft or beach ball can add a bit more fun for the little ones.

You might try a quick reflector or a small polarising filter to cut glare from the metal frames. Also, the park’s shade trees create soft, natural shadows in the late morning around 10 am, giving a nice mix of light and depth without needing a tripod. If you plan a longer exposure, a stable surface near the Capital O Siddartha Grand parking is handy.

You could also book a shared app based ride from Nagpur to Gadchiroli city; those usually cut the drive to about 4½ hours and sometimes include a quick snack stop, which saves a few minutes before you head to the sanctuary. From the town the 30 km stretch to the gate is about 45 minutes and the taxi fare is roughly ₹1,200 ₹1,500. This keeps you well within the half day window.

If you’re already near the beach, a quick walk from Hotel Royal Grand Heritage to the lighthouse takes only a few minutes. From the airport a taxi is the fastest, but the state bus to Puri Bus Stand is cheaper and still gets you close enough that a local minibus or rickshaw will drop you right at the lighthouse. The railway station is a few kilometres out, so you’ll still need a cab or rickshaw to reach the spot. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you’re starting at Motibagh Palace, grab the local bus heading south on the main road. It stops a short walk from Qila Mubarak and again near Sheesh Mahal. The total ride time is under 30 minutes and each hop costs only a few rupees. After visiting Sheesh Mahal, you can walk back to the bus stop to catch the return. If you need a quick break, Neemrana’s Baradari Palace is a convenient spot just half a kilometre away.

If you’re staying near the temple, a quick stop at the museum right after the palace keeps you in the shade. The museum is only a five minute walk from the palace, so you can finish the exhibits before the midday heat sets in. This way you see the temple first, then the palace, and wrap up at the museum while it’s still cool.

The market in Mon Town opens around eight a.m. and peaks on Thursday and Saturday, so if you want lighter crowds try a Tuesday or Wednesday early October. A quick taxi from The Layover Hotel takes about 30 minutes, giving you plenty of time to explore before the evening rush. Do you plan to stay overnight in Dimapur or head straight to the town?

The ranger station hosts a tiny visitor centre that shows a timeline of the 1984 split from the larger Mayurbhanj Reserve and explains the corridor’s role for elephants. If you arrive at 4 pm you can request a short evening walk until about 8 pm. After that, a quick drive to Chandipur for sunset is doable; the beach is only about 50 km away. If you need a place to rest before heading back, Hotel Ayush International is within 5 km of the entrance.

If you’re only stopping for a quick walk, the security check at Pragati Maidan can add a few minutes, especially when a trade fair is running. A short stroll to India Gate and then to Purana Qila takes under 30 minutes, and if you want a coffee break afterward, Ahuja Residency Sunder Nagar is a convenient spot just a few blocks away. You’ll notice the canyon’s mist clears a bit earlier in October, so the light is soft enough for good photos without harsh glare. The trail itself is a bit cooler, which helps keep the air fresh for spotting the Himalayan blue robin and other warblers. If you’re coming from the airport, a cab to the Laitlum bus stop takes about an hour, and you can then hop on a local bus or shared taxi. Staying at Awoo Resort in Bomdila lets the staff arrange a pick up, cutting travel time and giving you extra daylight for the walk.

If you’re just passing through, the 12 km detour via Radhanagar is shorter and gives you a calmer spot for quick snorkeling. The 15 km route toward Elephant Beach is a bit longer but offers more windsurfing and paddle boarding gear. If you decide to linger, you could stop by the TSG Grand near Adda for a swim or a coffee before heading back.

You might also want to ask the vendors about the “Jutti” makers who settled there after 1947. They still hand craft the traditional Punjabi footwear and often share stories of their migration. If you’re staying nearby, the Hotel Park Plaza Ludhiana is within walking distance and gives easy access to the market’s quieter early morning hours.

You can grab a few banana chips and a glass of fresh coconut water at the same stalls near the landing point they’re very cheap and keep you hydrated while you’re on the beach. If you’re there early, the grill starts around six in the morning, so you’ll get the freshest fish at the lowest price before the later crowds show up.

You could grab a quick puchka from the stalls right outside Victoria Memorial before heading to the bridge. It’s almost free and gives you a taste of local street food. Then hop on the 26A bus to Howrah Bridge; the fare is just a few rupees. If you need a place to crash, Polo Floatel Kolkata is only 0.6 km from all three spots and usually has single rooms around ₹1,200 a night.
