Early morning arrival in Dagshai – what can a family do first?

Navneet Kaur · 3 days ago ·10 replies

We’re arriving in Dagshai early in the morning with a couple of kids. The town is 1,694 m above sea level and stays open 24 hours, but we’re not sure what’s available at that hour. Are there breakfast spots near the Dagshai Bus Stand or any nearby places that open early? I’m also curious if we can visit the Gurkha Fort on Dagshai Road or any other activity before the day fully starts. Any suggestions on how to spend the first part of the day with the family would be appreciated.

Since the town stays open 24 hours, the only cafés near the bus stand that open early are the small tea stalls that start around 6 am they serve chai, biscuits and a few simple breakfast items. If you want a sit down breakfast, you could head to a nearby hotel like Storii by ITC Hotels, The Kaba Retreat Solan, which opens at 7 am and offers a full menu. After that, you can walk up to the Gurkha Fort on Dagshai Road; the fort is open from 9 am, so you’ll have a few hours to explore before the day really starts.

If you’re looking for a quick bite before heading to the fort, the tea stall right by the bus stand is the only place open before 7 am. After that, the Gurkha Fort is just a short walk away, so you can get there by 9 am and have a couple of hours to explore before the day kicks off. Does anyone know if the fort has any special activity for kids while you’re there?

If you’re up for a short stroll after breakfast, the Gurkha Fort’s museum has a kids’ activity corner where they can learn about the fort’s history with simple interactive displays. After you’ve explored, you could head back to the bus stand and grab a quick cup of chai at the tea stall, then walk to a nearby hotel like Storii by ITC Hotels, The Kaba Retreat Solan for a relaxed lunch before the day picks up.

The Gurkha Fort has a small courtyard that kids can roam around, and there’s a kids’ activity corner in the museum where they can learn about the fort’s history with simple displays. If you want a sit down breakfast a bit later, Storii by ITC Hotels, The Kaba Retreat Solan opens at 7 am and offers a full menu. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.
