Late afternoon arrival at Solang Valley, what can I do then?

Tushar Vasishth · 4 weeks ago ·19 replies

I’m getting to Solang Valley around 4 pm and wondering what’s still doable after the sun sets. Is the cable car open until evening, or is paragliding only a daytime activity? Also, are there any local restaurants nearby that serve Himachali cuisine for a quick bite before heading back to Manali?

The cable car usually shuts down a bit before sunset, so you’ll probably have to wait for the last ride. Paragliding is strictly a daytime sport, so you’d miss that after 4 pm. If you’re looking for a quick Himachali bite before heading back to Manali, there are a few spots around the base of the valley that open late do you know if the “Kangri” café is still open that evening?

You could stop by the Kangri café near the base; it usually stays open until about 8 pm and has a good selection of Himachali thalis. If you’re short on time, the café’s channa daal and gajar paratha are quick and filling, and the staff can recommend a quick walk to the nearby tea stalls that also serve local snacks before you head back to Manali.
