A handy option is to take a local taxi from Kaza straight to Thangri, then walk the remaining 2 3 km to the River View Lodge. The taxi ride is about an hour and the walk is flat and scenic, keeping you close to the Spiti River while still having a simple base. If you prefer staying a bit further out, the Echor Mud Huts in Tabo are still reachable by a 1 hour drive from Kaza.

October can bring short showers as the monsoon retreats, so a compact umbrella or a rain proof jacket is handy. The evenings stay cool, so a light windbreaker for early mornings and a breathable sweater for later in the day should cover most of the time. If you’re staying near the temple, a room at Pratiksha Himalayan Retreat keeps the nights well ventilated.

If you’re just passing through, the 12 km detour via Radhanagar is the shorter option and the road stays smoother. The Elephant Beach route adds a few extra kilometres but gives a rougher shoreline that’s better for windsurfing and paddle boarding. If you decide to linger a bit you could pop into the TSG Grand for a quick swim or coffee near Adda.

If you’re looking for something a bit different after sunset, there’s a small stall right on the promenade near the Submarine Museum that specializes in grilled crab. It’s usually open until about 8 pm, so you can try the crab if the main beach stalls have already closed. The vibe there is quieter than the main Vizag stalls, making it a nice spot to unwind.

The dhaba on the main road is a favourite for early morning puri, sweet milk and chai, and it stays open every day from 5 AM. If you’d rather sit, the Regenta Central Harsha Vapi café is just a short walk away and offers hot samosas, fresh fruit juice and a light breakfast menu that works well before the Iranshah rituals. The baths are usually quiet before dawn, so if you can get there around sunrise you’ll catch the first prayers at the Rama shrine and then enjoy the water before the crowds arrive. A short drive from Navsari, Uday Palace Navsari is a convenient base for that early morning plan.

The 47 bus you catch from The Old Court House by Abad stops right outside the museum entrance, so you can walk in without any extra hop. If you prefer a direct ride, a short taxi will get you there in a few minutes and you can hop off just in front of the gate. After you finish, the stall on the road to Fort Kochi is a quick spot for idli vada, but you could also grab a snack at the small café that opens a block away on the main road. The café serves coffee and light bites, so it’s a convenient option if you want something more substantial before heading back.

If you have a little extra time, try the 30 minute trek from the Chandra Peak viewpoint to the Chandrashila summit. The sunrise there happens a few minutes after the peak at Tungnath, so you’ll get a golden hour glow over the entire valley. It’s a quick climb, and you can return to the road before the midday heat rises.

April is the peak for the Aoling festival, so you’ll see the most colorful processions and cultural performances then. If you prefer fewer crowds and milder temperatures, March or October are good choices; March is still warm but the rains haven’t started, and October is the start of the dry season with pleasant evenings. A convenient base in Dimapur is The Layover Hotel, which is close to the airport and has easy access to the road to Mon Town.

If you’re short on time, head there right after the morning prayers. The Ganesha temple inside the settlement opens early and is usually less crowded than the main Tibetan Buddhist centre, so you can get a quick look at the local blend of cultures before you need to leave.

A shared cab from the airport to Lonavala usually costs around ₹200 ₹250, which is cheaper than taking the bus train combo. The cab drops you near the railway station, and from there the lake is just a 10 minute walk or a quick 12A hop. If you want a place to stay close to the lake, Metropole By Key Board Hotels is only about 80 metres from the station.

If you stay at MJ Sarovar Portico Haridwar you’ll be right by the river. A quick walk takes you to the temple and then to a dhaba on Ganga Road that usually accepts both cash and card. That way you can grab a thali for about ₹200 and still keep transport costs minimal.

If you’re already in Nagpur, the fastest way is to take a cab directly to Gadchiroli city and then a local taxi to the sanctuary. A private hire from Nagpur takes about 4 5 hours, which fits a half day window better than a train or bus that stops in many towns. Once you reach Gadchiroli, the sanctuary is only a short drive from the town centre. If you prefer to stay overnight, Hotel O Vinit Lodging in Nagpur is a solid choice and close to the station for easy departure. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

You could also head straight to Kapila Theertham first, then loop back to the Butterball. The 10 km ride takes about 20 minutes, and you’ll avoid the heavier traffic that hits the Butterball early in the morning. From Kapila Theertham you can get a quick 15 minute taxi up to Tirumala, then finish at the Butterball for a photo before heading back. If you’re staying near the city centre, the HAYATHI INN is only a few minutes away and a good base for the loop.

A quick detour to Guruvayoor Temple is worth it. It’s about a 45 minute drive from Blossom International Park and is one of Kerala’s most revered Vishnu shrines, dating back to the 12th century. The temple’s ancient stone architecture and daily rituals give a stark contrast to the park’s modern design. If you’re staying near Thrissur, the Hyatt Regency Thrissur is a convenient base for the trip.
