If you’re driving from Bangalore, a quick stop at Anantapur first makes sense. From the airport the 260 km drive takes about four hours. Once you’re in Anantapur you can head straight to the Sri Devarajaswami Temple, then pick up the bus or taxi to Lepakshi (about 80 km). After Lepakshi, the Belum Caves are just 30 km farther. If you need a place to stay near the temple, Hotel O Anantapur is a convenient option.

If you’re staying at Classic Grande Imphal you can arrange a daily taxi that drops you at the boat launch around 8 am that’s when the phumdis are least crowded. After the lake, head back to Imphal and stop by the Kangpokpi market for a quick tea before driving to Keibul Lamjao; the kingfisher trail starts right at the park gate and takes about an hour. This keeps the two days tight and lets you enjoy a trek, a boat ride and a taste of local life.

If you’re already near the station, a quick cab gets you there in about five minutes. From the bus stand the minibus runs roughly every fifteen to twenty minutes, so you’ll only wait a short time. Either way, after visiting the Gurdwara you can walk the two kilometres to Faridkot Fort or hop on a rickshaw for a quick hop, so both sites fit comfortably into one day.

You’ll find that the Vizag stalls usually stay open until about 8 pm, so you can still snag fresh grilled crab or prawns after sunset. If you’re looking for something a bit different, there’s a small stall on the promenade near the Submarine Museum that specialises in grilled crab and stays open until the same time. Do you have a particular shellfish you’re craving, or just looking for the freshest catch?

If you’re staying at D Royal Palm, the concierge can arrange a quick shuttle to Bordoloi Tea Estate. A weekday morning around 9 am is usually the quietest slot, and you’ll catch the dew on the leaves for better photos. The afternoon tends to get busier, especially after the harvest rush.

After the temple you could stroll to Kangla Fort the lawns and watchtowers give kids a chance to run around and learn a bit of history. If you’re looking for a nearby stay, Hotel Yaiphaba is under a kilometre from the temple and is well rated by families.

You could hand the kids a simple map of the island with a few marked spots and ask them to find each one while they spot birds. It turns the walk into a treasure hunt and keeps them engaged. If you need a cheap overnight stop, the Golden Tree in Puri is close to the jetty and offers budget rooms.

You could also grab a quick cup of hot masala chai at the small tea stall right on the main road great for a quick refill while walking back. Does anyone know if the stall near the bus stand also offers any fresh fruit juices?

You could start at Sanjan Bagh around 6 am, then head to Sanchi for the stupas before lunch. A quick 30 km drive gets you to Bhimbetka by late afternoon, where the rock shelters are still open. If you need a place to drop off bags after the day, Hotel Morya Meghdoot is just a few minutes from the city centre.

In Tipi, the roadside stall near the market sells a spicy yak stew called “sukha” that pairs well with a cup of butter tea. If you’re heading to Bomdila, the Awoo Resort café often has a daily thukpa special made with homemade yak broth, a quick bite worth trying before you hit the lake. If you’re thinking of a pre dawn visit, late January is a good bet because the sky is usually clear enough for a crisp planetarium show and the mornings are still cool enough to walk to the zoo before it heats up. Just a few minutes from the museum, the Super Townhouse Gajuwaka Near CMR Mall puts you right on the beach and the hill station side, so you can finish the day with a sunset stroll along RK Beach. Have you checked if the “Space Exploration” workshop runs that day? TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you’re pressed, look for the stone plaque on the east side of the main shrine. It dates the temple to 850 CE and names King Pratap Sena. The inscription explains the Shivling was already formed when he arrived, confirming the Swayambhu claim. After you finish, you could grab a quick coffee at Hotel O Saket Homes, just a ten minute drive away.

If you’re staying just a few hours, look for a place that offers a quick check out option and a luggage storage service. Some hotels even let you leave bags after midnight if you need to keep the mall open. A short walk to the mall is handy, but make sure the room has a safe for any valuables.

If you’re just after a quick stroll, aim for a 20 minute walk across the bridge and back. That gives you enough time to snap a few shots and catch the light before heading to Qutub Minar. If you need a quick refresh, Udman Hotel Panchshila Park is a kilometre away and a handy spot for a coffee break.

If you’re staying at a place like Raga On the Ganges, you’ll have the river right outside your door. That means you can hop onto a rafting launch in the morning, then walk to a nearby ashram for an evening session. The hotel’s location also puts you only a short drive from Devprayag, so you can drop by the confluence for a quiet sunset without a long trek.
