Will Bordoloi Tea Estate be crowded in October on a weekday?

Swarup Noronha · 2 weeks ago ·17 replies

Since I’m staying in Jorhat, I’m planning a quick visit to Bordoloi Tea Estate this October. The estate is free to enter and open all day, which sounds great. But I heard the tea gardens can get busy during the peak season. Will it be crowded on a weekday in October? Also, would a morning visit be better than an afternoon one?

If you go on a weekday in October, the estate usually sees fewer crowds than on weekends. A morning visit, say around 9 am, gives you a quieter walk and you’ll catch the dew on the leaves. If you’re staying at D Royal Palm, the hotel’s concierge can arrange a quick shuttle to the estate and even help you book a guided walk. The afternoon can feel a bit busier, especially after the tea harvesting rush.

A weekday in October is usually quieter, especially early morning. If you’re staying at D Royal Palm, the concierge can arrange a quick shuttle and might even let you join a small guided walk before the main visitor group arrives. Morning visits also mean cooler temperatures and more light for photos. If you prefer a relaxed stroll, aim for 8 or 9 a.m. and you’ll likely avoid the midday crowd.

A weekday morning around 9 am is usually the quietest slot, before the main visitor wave arrives. You’ll also catch the early light for better photos. If you stay at D Royal Palm, the concierge can arrange a quick shuttle and sometimes slot you into a short guided walk before the larger group starts. The afternoon tends to be busier, especially after harvest. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you’re staying at D Royal Palm, the concierge can drop you off at the estate’s parking lot around 8 am. The tea gardens open early, so you’ll avoid the mid day rush and can even ask for a brief tea tasting session before the main group arrives. A mid morning slot keeps the walk relaxed and the light great for photos. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you’re staying at D Royal Palm, you can ask the concierge to drop you off near the main gate and there’s a small paid parking lot right next to the visitor center that fills up quickly after 11 am. A 9 am arrival keeps you ahead of the lunch rush and gives you a quieter walk.

If you’re heading out on a weekday, the parking lot at the visitor centre fills up after about 11 a.m., so getting there around 9 a.m. not only keeps the walk quiet but also gives you a free spot. A quick stop at the tea tasting station before the main group arrives is a nice extra touch.
