If you want a quick walk and a kid friendly spot, the Classic The Mall Hotel has a small outdoor play area that lets the children burn off energy before heading to the barrage. The free parking right next to the lobby means you can drop the car close to the picnic spot without a detour. The rooms are also spacious enough for a family.

If you’re short on time, a quick walk to the Bombay High Court gives you a taste of its neoclassical façade and a nice photo spot. Afterward you can stroll past the Gateway of India and grab a snack at the historic Café Coffee Day. For a budget overnight stay, The Gordon House Hotel is only a 0.3 km walk from the court and the railway station, making it convenient for a quick rest before your next leg.

If you’re short on time, a quick stop at the tea stall near the lake is worth it they serve local yak butter tea that’s a nice pick up before the descent. After the trek, the Himalayan Comforts in Rudraprayag is only about 22 km away and offers a decent base for the next leg of your trip. The local buses from Jajpur Bus Stand run every 15 20 minutes, so you can hop on early and reach the temple in about ten minutes. If you need a private room, the guesthouse next to the stand usually offers single rooms for around ₹950 a night, and they have a small kitchen you can use. This keeps you very close to the shrine without the long drive to Bhubaneswar.

You might also consider staying at Ashok Villa it’s only 0.7 km from the temple and gives a clear view of the sunrise. In mid October the sky usually stays clear after the first week, so a light jacket and a small umbrella should cover most mornings. You might also want to check the old Nuranang army barracks just a short walk from the falls. They still have the concrete walls and a plaque that explains the 1962 skirmishes. If you head toward Sela Pass, a quick stop at the memorial plaque along the road gives a clear picture of the troops’ route. After the trek, Awoo Resort in Bomdila can be a convenient place to rest.

If you only have a few hours, start at Tagore Hill for the quickest scenic stop, then head to Ranchi Lake. From there you can squeeze in a quick visit to Pahari Mandir before looping back. A private taxi will cut the travel time compared to buses. If you need a place to rest before heading back, Capital O The Jumar is just a short drive from the village.

If you’re heading out early, the city bus that departs Udaipur airport around 6:30 am can get you to Ranakpur in just under two hours. It stops right at the temple’s bus stand, so you can walk the few minutes to the shrine. For a cheap overnight spot, the WelcomHeritage Maharani Bagh Orchard Retreat is only about 3.2 km away and offers simple rooms that fit a tight budget. Have you checked the exact departure times for that 6:30 am run?

If you’re staying at Hotel Le Roi Jammu, the Raghunath Temple is only about a ten minute walk from the hotel’s front gate, so you can skip the bus or cab for a quick stroll. The temple’s main entrance is on the main road, and you’ll find a few small local vendors nearby that sell snacks and souvenirs before you head back.

The park’s 2019 “Urban Green Initiative” was another turning point, where the city council added native species to the landscaping. If you’re staying at Ashok Villa, the visitor centre opens early that month for a short talk on that initiative before the Heritage Walk starts. This gives a nice segue into the park’s early design and the 2015 biodiversity audit.

If you’re heading out around 4 5 p.m., the back of island beach at Havelock, like the stretch near the Sea Shell Havelock resort, usually stays pretty calm. The crowds thin out earlier than at the main market, so you can stroll the sand and spot some dolphins before sunset. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

A quick coffee at the little café on the western edge of Vagator’s promenade is a nice way to stretch after the fort. The spot offers sea view seats and a light breakfast menu that’s open from dawn, so you can refuel before heading to the beach.

You might also want to check out the small shrine inside the fort grounds that houses a bronze statue of Guru Gobind Singh; it’s a quiet spot that many visitors miss. After the fort, a quick walk to Ramgarhia Bagh park offers a calm break before heading back. If you’re staying nearby, Hotel Sarai Bharatgarh in Rupnagar is a convenient base for the next day’s plans.

Since the tomb is open 24 hours, you could start there, then head straight to the museum if you’re up for a quick 6 km walk; the museum opens in the evening so you’ll still see most exhibits. After that, Golghar’s sunset view is worth a short walk from the tomb, and you can finish near the hotel The Red Velvet Hotel Samarpan is only a 10 minute walk away for a quick dinner.

You can catch a local bus from Dehradun’s bus stand that stops right at Kali Temple Bus Stop. The fare is usually a few rupees, and the journey takes about 20 25 minutes. If you prefer to go via Haridwar, you’d take a train to Haridwar and then a local bus or shared taxi to the temple, but that adds extra time and a bit more cost. For the cheapest route, just hop on the direct Dehradun to Kali Temple bus.
