How crowded is Mayabunder compared to nearby spots when arriving late afternoon?

Dev Kulkarni · 2 weeks ago ·17 replies

The local market in Mayabunder tends to get busy around 4-6 PM, so if you arrive late afternoon you’ll likely see a good crowd there. The jetty and beach side stay relatively calm until sunset, giving a quieter stroll. By contrast, nearby spots like Karmatang Beach or Avis Island are usually less crowded at the same hour, especially since they’re a bit farther away (20 km and 15 km respectively). I’d like to know how the crowd levels compare on a typical late‑afternoon arrival day. Are there any other nearby attractions that stay light when you get there around 4‑5 PM?

If you’re heading out around 4 5 p.m., the back of island beach at Havelock, like the stretch near the Sea Shell Havelock resort, usually stays pretty calm. The crowds thin out earlier than at the main market, so you can stroll the sand and spot some dolphins before sunset. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you’re arriving around 4 5 PM, the back of island beach near the Sea Shell Havelock resort usually stays quieter than the main market. Another spot that tends to be light is the small fishing village of Diglipur you can walk the pier and spot a few local boats without the usual crowds. If you’re staying nearby, the Pristine Beach Resort in Diglipur is a convenient base for that. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

A good option is the small fishing village of Diglipur the pier there tends to stay quiet after 4 PM. You can walk along the shore, watch local fishermen loading their boats, and get a relaxed view of the sunset without the crowds that hit the main market. If you’re staying nearby, the Pristine Beach Resort in Diglipur is a convenient base for that walk.

A quick tip if you head to Diglipur’s beach after 4 PM you’ll find a small kiosk that serves fresh coconut water right by the pier. It’s a good spot to grab a drink before you stroll to the sunset.

You might also check the quieter stretch of Karmatang Beach after 4 PM it tends to be less busy than the main market and still offers good sunset views. If you’re staying near Diglipur, the Pristine Beach Resort is a convenient base for a relaxed walk along the pier, where you can catch a few local boats without the usual crowds. Have you tried the small kiosk that sells fresh coconut water right by the pier?

If you’re heading out around 4 5 PM, the quieter stretch of the main market near the temple area tends to stay lighter than the main stalls. It’s a good spot for a quick walk before the crowds swell later in the evening. Have you noticed if the local fish market opens earlier on those days?

If you’re heading out around 4 5 PM, the back of island beach near Sea Shell Havelock stays noticeably quieter than the main market. It’s a good spot to catch a sunset stroll and maybe spot a dolphin or two. For a quieter alternative further out, the small fishing pier in Diglipur is almost empty at that hour, and staying at Pristine Beach Resort there puts the pier just a short walk away.

If you’re staying near Diglipur, the pier is almost empty after 4 PM and you can walk a short distance to the mangrove trail that opens at dusk a quiet spot that’s often missed by most visitors.

Another quiet spot you might try is the mangrove trail that starts a short walk from the Diglipur pier. It opens around sunset and is usually very light at 4 5 PM, giving you a peaceful walk before the evening crowds arrive.
