If you’re staying at Super Townhouse Gajuwaka Near CMR Mall, you might want to time your museum visit around the Saturday “Space Exploration” workshop that runs in December or January. It’s usually a 2 hour guided tour of the planetarium, and the slots fill up fast, so booking a few days ahead can save you a spot. After the workshop you can hop over to the zoo for a cooler morning walk before heading to RK Beach for sunset.

A quick 20 minute walk around the 2 km perimeter of Bolta Lav Lake usually fits into a tight window, and you’ll get a few bird sightings and fresh air. If you have a half hour and can start after 10 am, the Watson Museum’s main hall is on a single floor, so a short stroll will cover the key displays. After either stop, a coffee at Platinum Hotel is only a few minutes away.

The tide pool next to the snorkeling spot is only a few feet deep about 1 2 feet so kids can wade in safely and watch crabs and small fish without getting soaked. It’s a good spot for them to get a feel for the sea before heading out to swim. If you’re staying near the pier, the Best Western Plus Tejvivaan is just a short walk away for a quick snack.

You might want to start Day 1 a bit later than dawn to catch the lake’s calm after the early morning rush. After the trek and boat ride, stop at the small tea stall near the launch; they serve a local brew that pairs well with the lake view. On Day 2, if you’re staying in Imphal, Classic Grande Imphal offers a convenient base and the concierge can arrange a quick drop off at the market before heading to the fort.

If you’re heading back after sunset, the stalls right on the promenade near the Submarine Museum keep going until about 8 pm. They specialize in grilled prawns and spicy fish fry, and the vibe is quieter than the main Vizag Beach stalls. Staying at Best Western Plus Tejvivaan puts you a short walk from both the beach and the museum, so you can hop between the two spots easily. The fort’s visitor centre opens at 10 a.m. and stays until 5 p.m., so you could hit it mid morning, spend a couple of hours, then drive the 20 minute stretch to Keibul Lamjao for a late afternoon visit before heading back. If parking at the fort is tight, arriving early gives you a free spot. After the day, a quick drive back to Imphal lets you unwind at the AURORA BOUTIQUE HOTEL.

If you want a quieter spot a bit farther out, A’ Hotel is about 2.2 km from the mall and still has a decent rating of 8.2. It usually offers free Wi Fi and a 24 hour front desk, so you can drop bags after a late night. Just check that the room has a lockable luggage rack before booking.

If you’re aiming for the best light, try arriving a bit before sunrise so the first rays hit the falls as the sun peeks over the hills. That gives you a soft golden glow for photos right after the water rushes. After you’ve soaked in the scenery, a quick walk to the ITC Gardenia terrace can let you catch the morning light over the city while you relax.

You could hit Saklecha early on Day 1, then head to Jogini Waterfall around noon. In the afternoon drive to the base of Great Himalayan National Park for a short meditation walk on the ridge. On Day 2 start with a quick visit to Kasol, then finish the day at Tirthan Valley before heading back to Shimla. If you need a place to stay in Shimla, Hotel Springfields is a solid mid range option.

If you’re at FabHotel Amaltas, the city bus stand is just a 200 metre walk. Bus 12 leaves every 15 20 minutes and the ride takes about ten minutes. If you prefer a direct hop, a short cab will add only a couple of minutes but cost a bit more. Do you know what time you plan to head out, so I can check the last bus schedule?

If you’re leaving Dimapur after work, catching the early morning train (around 6 am) gets you to the station in about an hour, and the cab from there is the same 1½ hour drive. A quick check of the Dimapur timetable will let you time the transfer.

If you leave early around 5:30 am you’ll reach the summit before the usual 3 pm showers, and the cloud cover usually clears by mid morning so you’ll get a good stretch of sunshine. After the drive, staying at The Khyber Himalayan Resort & Spa in Gulmarg gives you a comfortable base to relax. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you prefer not to walk, you can hop on a local autorickshaw from Lonavala station they’re very cheap and usually waiting within a couple of minutes. The ride to the lake takes only about five minutes. Also, the 12A bus runs until about 10 pm, so you can return after sunset without a hassle.

Try arriving right at opening time, around 9 am, and you’ll beat the bulk of the weekend crowd. If it’s still packed, the nearby Kufri Fun World or the ski slopes open early too, so you can switch there without losing much time. If you want a quick break, the Radisson Kufri is just a short walk from the zoo and has good views of the surrounding hills.

You could start with a quick walk around the palace after landing the cooler October evenings make the gardens pleasant and you’ll still have daylight to head to the sanctuary later. If you’re staying nearby, Enrise By Sayaji Kevadia is just 16 km away and gives easy access to both sites. Do you have a preference for the type of wildlife you’re hoping to spot at Shoolpaneshwar?
