If you’re staying at the Apple Orchard Resort By Royal Collection in Dhanaulti, you’ll notice the mornings are noticeably warmer than Mussoorie’s higher slopes. The drive climbs gradually, so by the time you reach Mussoorie you’ll feel a drop of a few degrees. It’s still a good idea to bring a light jacket for the evenings, but overall the climate at Bhim Pakora will feel milder in October.

If you want something quick and a bit different, the Delhi Railway Museum is a neat stop. It’s just under three kilometres from Connaught Place and you can spend an hour or so walking through the old locomotives and exhibits. Afterward, the nearby old Railway Station area has some street art worth spotting. If you’re looking for a coffee to finish, the cafés around the museum serve decent paratha.

You could try leaving a bit later than dawn, say around 7:30. The road that passes Alagar Kovil then goes straight to Pazhamudhircholai without detours, and the traffic there is usually lighter until the temple opens fully. For the carvings, shoot from the outer courtyard where the light hits the stone directly this keeps the crowd out of the foreground and lets you focus on the fine details.

If you can spare a bit more time, the Kanaka Durga Temple is worth the extra 12 km. The hilltop location gives a quick panoramic shot of the city skyline that you won’t get from the other spots. For a really quick photo, the Subramanya Temple’s gopuram still works best. Afterward, the Lemon Tree Premier Vijayawada is a convenient place to relax.

If you’re looking for a quick bite before the evening pooja, the stall on the right side of the path that serves chapati with dal is usually the fastest. If the line gets long, the ARTILLA INN, just a short walk away, has a small cafeteria that offers a quick Gujarati thali and a cup of masala chai. This gives you a quieter spot if you want to relax before the prayer.

A quick way to hit all the spots is to start at the Basilica, walk to Se Cathedral, then catch a shared auto to Fort Aguada. From there a local bus can take you to Calangute Beach, then hop on another auto to Anjuna Flea Market, and finish at Chapora Fort. If you’re staying at Treebo Rock Valley you’ll be just a short ride from the church and can easily grab a cab for the longer stretch to Dudhsagar Falls if you decide to add it later.

If you’re up for a quick walk, the small tea stalls near the bus stand open around 6 am and give you chai and biscuits. After that you could head to Storii by ITC Hotels, The Kaba Retreat Solan for a sit down breakfast at 7 am. Once you’re done, the Gurkha Fort on Dagshai Road opens at 9 am, so you’ll have a couple of hours to explore before the day fully starts.

If you head out around 3 pm you’ll get a good window. The main kirtan starts at 6 pm, so you’ll be in time, and the lecture follows right after, usually until about 8 pm. That gives you roughly three to four hours total, enough to see the main events and still stroll the city before dark. If you want a quieter spot to sit, try the pavilion near the main entrance it’s less crowded than the central hall.

If you’re short on time, grab the small platform right after the main entrance it gives a 360 degree view of the caves and the Bay of Kakinada in one glance. From there you can see the rock cut arches from above, which is a quick way to appreciate the layout without wandering deep. If you do have an extra half hour, the Simhachalam Temple is a 15 minute bus hop and its hilltop setting offers a contrasting city view that many find worth the brief trek. Afterward, if you need a quick rest before heading back, Treebo Grand Milan is just a few kilometres away and can be a convenient spot to stretch.

If you’re based in Kolkata, a short 20 minute drive to Kusumgram keeps you close to the city’s transport hubs. After the village, consider stopping by the Dakshineswar Kali Temple; the riverfront walk there offers a nice contrast before heading back to your hotel. If you prefer a quieter stay, the Hotel 16 avenue is a solid base.

A good quick bite right on the main road near the station is the “Konkani vada” a crispy potato fritter served with a tangy tamarind chutney. It’s lighter than the coconut based curries you’ll see on the beach, but still packed with local spice. If you have a few extra minutes, the stall also offers a small bowl of fresh coconut water that’s perfect for a quick refresh before heading out.

If you’re looking for a quick rest before heading to the Science Centre, Treebo Archie Regency is just a few hundred metres from the airport and has easy parking for a taxi drop off. From the railway station the 2 km walk is mostly flat after dark, so you’ll be there by about 7 pm. If you have time after the museum, a short 8 km drive to Tagore Hill gives a nice sunset view.

You might also want to stop by the nearby Bhubaneswar Market near the main bus station it’s a good spot to grab local snacks and see everyday life before you head back up.

If you’re staying at Megapode Resort, try the tiny ledge on the ridge’s eastern side. The sea breaks into a thin ribbon right before the green slope, and early sunrise around 6 am gives a sharp contrast with a subtle rim around the cliffs that many overlook. The wind there often pulls a thin veil of mist over the slope, adding depth you won’t see from the main trail.

Bhavani Island was once the seat of the early Chola governors and is famous for the 12th century stone inscription that records land grants to the local temple. A quick walk to the island’s small museum shows the original copper plates. If you have time, a short drive to the nearby Guntur Fort, built in the 16th century, gives a good contrast of fortification styles in the region.
