Hill Palace Museum’s entry is just a few rupees, and the local bus drops you near the museum. After the visit you can walk to the nearby Thattakad market for a quick snack before heading back to Thattekad. If you need a cheap overnight stay, Maram Resort Mamalakandam is only about 14 km away and offers basic rooms at a reasonable rate.

September usually sees a mix of sunshine and occasional showers, so bring a light rain jacket. From Srinagar you can take a shared taxi or a local bus up the Gurez road; the drive takes about three hours. If you prefer more comfort, a private car is a good option and you’ll get to stop at scenic viewpoints along the way.

You could try an overnight stay at Patang Residency in Saputara. It’s only about 21 km from the forest entrance, so you can drive to the forest early, spend a few hours, then head back to the hotel for a good night’s rest before heading home.

If you want to see the river dolphins up close, try a mangrove boat ride around sunrise the light is softer and the water calmer, so spotting them is easier. The safari is still the best bet for elephants or a tiger sighting. During the winter months, the lake area becomes a hotspot for migratory waders, so a quick bird watch walk after either activity can add a nice touch. If you’re staying in Bhubaneswar, Hotel O Saket Homes is a convenient base for both. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

A good way to squeeze all three spots in one day is to stay at Vishnu Lok near Dehradun Railway Station. From there you can hit Lacchiwala first, then head to Robber’s Cave, and finish at Sahastradhara before sunset. The waterfall still runs well in early September, especially after the monsoon, so starting early keeps you out of the midday heat.

If you head out from Yuksom right after sunrise you’ll catch the mist still hugging the stone walls and the murals in soft light. The thangkas and the old reliquary are best seen when the temple is quiet. After the visit, a quick stop at The Elgin Mount Pandim Pelling gives you a comfortable break before heading back to Yuksom.

A quick walk south of the temple brings you to a stall that sells “pakhala bhat,” a fermented rice dish mixed with curd and spices, popular among the tribal community. The vendor also offers a small plate of bamboo shoots in a tangy tomato gravy. If you’re looking for a sit down spot, FabHotel Amaltas is only about 0.75 km away and serves a few regional dishes.

A good extra stop is the Alai Darwaza right after the Iron Pillar. It’s a small gate but offers a nice view of the mosque courtyard and a quieter spot for photos before you head back to the Minar. If you need a quick break, Hotel Pluto’s is only about two kilometres away and has a decent lounge area.

If you’re staying at the Time Square Resort and Spa in Bhuj, leave the hotel around 9 am. You’ll reach the 24 hour temple by 10, spend 45 minutes, then head to Narayan Sarovar by 11:15. A quick walk around the lake and snack will get you back before the 5 pm aarti.

A good window is to leave Solan station around 07:45 on a fair day the first Solan Dagshai bus at 08:00 still runs, but the stretch near the brewery is lighter early. The bus will drop you at the temple gate, and you can walk back to the brewery if you want. If you need a place to stay, Montclair Ananta Elite Solan is just 1.6 km from the temple. If you’re only there for a few hours, heading straight to the 10 am guided walk lets you see the stands before the 4 pm match starts. After the game, a quick 10 minute drive to the Gurugram Heritage Museum is a nice history bite. If you want a quick coffee or snack before or after, goSTOPS Gurugram is just a short stop on the way and has a good café on site.

If you’re already near Dhokamale, a quick coffee at Kokanwadi Resort before heading out can break up the walk. From the airport or bus stand, a 10 15 minute auto drop off at the lighthouse gets you on the trail, and the 20 minute walk to Mandvi Beach lands you right before sunset. Aim for a 3 p.m. start to catch the late afternoon light.
