How to fit a quick visit to Koteshwar Temple and nearby sights in one day?

Karthik Deshpande · 1 month ago ·22 replies

I only have a half‑day to spare before heading to Bhuj. The temple is open 24 hrs with no entry fee, and the evening aarti sounds like a must‑see. It’s only 5 km from Narayan Sarovar, so I could swing by that too. What’s the best way to see both places and still catch the aarti within a few hours?

If you leave around 10 am you can hit the temple first, spend an hour or so, then drive the short 5 km stretch to Narayan Sarovar. The aarti usually starts around 5 pm, so you’ll have plenty of time to walk the lake, grab a snack, and head back for the evening ceremony. A quick stop at the temple’s free parking and a short walk to the lake keeps the half day tight and relaxed.

A quick way is to hit the temple first around 10 am, spend about 45 minutes, then drive the 5 km to Narayan Sarovar. You’ll get to the lake by noon, can walk the perimeter, grab a snack, and be back in time for the 5 pm aarti. If you’re staying near the city, the Time Square Resort and Spa in Bhuj is a convenient base to return to before heading to the temple.

If you’re staying near the city, the Time Square Resort and Spa in Bhuj is a convenient base. From there you can hit the 24 hour temple at 10 am, spend about 45 minutes, then drive the 5 km to Narayan Sarovar. A quick walk around the lake and a snack will let you return by 4:30 pm, so you’re on time for the 5 pm aarti.

You could head straight to the temple at 10 am, then take a quick 5 km drive to Narayan Sarovar by 11 30. The lake walk takes about 45 minutes, so you’ll finish around 12 15. Grab a quick bite at the nearby snack stalls, then return to the city by 1 pm. That gives you ample time to relax before the 5 pm aarti. If you’re staying near the city, the Time Square Resort and Spa in Bhuj is a convenient base to return to.

If you’re staying at the Time Square Resort and Spa, try leaving at 8 am. That gives you a quiet drive to the temple, a 30 minute visit, then a quick 5 km drive to Narayan Sarovar. You’ll finish the lake walk by 11 am, have a snack, and still have plenty of daylight to head back and catch the 5 pm aarti.

A quick walk around the lake takes about 40 minutes, so you could leave the temple at 10:30, hit Narayan Sarovar by 11:15, finish the stroll by 11:55, grab a snack, and be back before the 5 pm aarti. This keeps the half day tight and lets you enjoy both spots without rushing.

You could also grab a quick cup of masala chai at the small tea stall right outside the temple gate before you head out. It’s a good spot to refuel and you’ll still have plenty of time to enjoy the lake walk and reach the aarti on schedule.

You could finish the lake walk around 12:15, then head back to the city by 1:00. A quick stop at the tea stall just outside the temple gate for a cup of masala chai is a nice way to refuel before the 5 pm aarti.

If you’re staying at the Time Square Resort and Spa, consider leaving a bit earlier, around 8:30 am, so you can beat the midday heat on the lake walk. The 5 km stretch to Narayan Sarovar is pretty flat, so you’ll get back to the temple by 10:30 am and still have a good window before the 5 pm aarti. This gives you a little extra time to grab a quick snack at the tea stall outside the temple and enjoy a relaxed visit to both spots.
