If you’re looking for a quick way to stretch your legs after the tunnel, a short bike ride to Varkala Beach gives a nice cliff view along the path. From there you can walk a few minutes to Papanasam Beach, which tends to be less crowded at sunset.

A quick walk from Chauth Mata to the Jodhpur Clock Tower gives the kids a chance to run around the square and you can grab a light breakfast from a stall there. From the tower you can head straight to Mehrangarh, which opens early and lets you beat the midday heat. If you need a break before the fort, consider staying at FabHotel Prime The Jodhpur it’s just a few kilometres away and offers family rooms.

If you’re only after a quick hop to the fort, a cab from Shilparamam to Golconda takes roughly twenty minutes. From there you can catch another short ride to Charminar, about fifteen minutes. If you want a place to rest after the walk, the Lemon Tree Premier Vijayawada is a solid option nearby. The bridge is part of the NH 7 corridor and has seen several widening works since 1994 to add extra lanes. If you’re staying nearby, the Clarion Hotel Dehradun offers easy access and a good river view from its lobby terrace.

The story goes that Lakshmana was wounded during his exile and the gods poured the waters at that spot to heal him. The nearby Rama temple was then built so pilgrims could offer prayers before bathing, believing the water itself was sanctified by a sage who met Rama. If you’re staying in Navsari, the Uday Palace Navsari is a comfortable option and close to the springs, making it easy to visit early in the morning and return for a quiet night.

The little courtyard inside the upper levels of Kareng Ghar is often overlooked. In late October the afternoon sun hits the stone mosaics there and throws a grid like pattern across the walls, giving you a sharp contrast you won’t see at Rang Ghar or Talatal Ghar. After a long shoot you could head to HOTEL GULMOHAR GRAND for a quick rest.

You could grab a quick coffee at Enrise By Sayaji Kevadia after the palace walk; the hotel’s terrace has a nice view of the surrounding gardens and you’ll be close to the road that heads to the sanctuary. That way you can head out early and still have daylight for a morning safari at Shoolpaneshwar. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

A good extra angle is to shoot from the south east corner around 5:15 p.m. when the sun is just below the horizon and the bastions catch a warm rim light. If you need a quick break, the Lemon Tree Premier Vijayawada is close enough to reload and reset before heading back for the golden hour.

You might also try shooting the garden’s lotus ponds around mid morning when the light is still bright but the shadows are soft great for a contrast to the hard lines of the domes. If you have a few extra minutes after the riverbank, the terrace at MANJEERA PREMIER gives a different angle of the Godavari and the temple reflected in the water, keeping the walk under ten kilometres. If you’re opting for a taxi instead of the bus, you’ll get there a bit earlier usually around 4 pm if you leave Manali at 2 pm. That gives you a full morning to stroll the 2 km loop and grab a ginger chai before heading back. The tea stall near the square also sells fried samosas and fresh kheer that kids usually love.

You might also stop at the small tea shop in Suru Valley before heading up the pass it’s a quick break and the tea is surprisingly good. After the pass, the road to Kargil drops quickly, so you’ll be back on a gentler slope when you reach the memorial. If you need a place to stay near the memorial, Hotel The Haven Kargil is a solid option.

If you’re willing to stretch a bit, the Jagannath Temple is only about 15 kilometres from the garden. It’s a popular site with a large open courtyard and a quiet spot to take a breather before you head back on the road.

Amini’s old mosque on the western side is the most visible relic of the early Tamil settlers, and the cluster of traditional thatched homes nearby shows the original layout of the village. If you want a guided walk, the local cultural tours run by the community visit both the mosque and the homes, explaining the handloom and coir craft that still thrives. These tours are the best way to see the heritage sites up close.

One day is enough if you leave early from Visakhapatnam Airport. The state bus runs every 45 minutes to Baruva, arriving in about an hour. From the beach a quick auto takes ten minutes to the lighthouse, and a 30 minute auto can drop you at Kalingapatnam. If you’d rather stay close to the coast, Sunray Village Resort is just 15 km away and has reliable auto links to all the sites.

If you’re already in Bahadurgarh for the temple, staying at the Townhouse OAK Hotel C Pearls gives you a short walk back to the shrine. The courtyard stays cooler after 4 pm, so a late afternoon visit is comfortable. Mid week mornings in March are usually quieter than weekends, so that’s a good slot if you want a relaxed atmosphere.
