If you’re there on a Thursday, the film screening ends around 7 pm, so you can still catch the sunset view from the Glasshouse before heading to the Golden Temple. After the temple’s evening lights, a quick walk to the nearby fort gives you a taste of history without missing the cultural bite. If you need a place to rest, the Best Western Kapurthala is only a short drive away.

The museum also offers free guided tours every hour from 10 am to 4 pm. If you’re staying at Ramee Grand Hotel, you can grab the tour guide from the lobby, hop into the museum at 10 am, finish by 11:30 am, then head to Shaniwar Wada on foot or by auto before the fort closes at 5 pm. This way you’ll avoid the lunch rush and still have plenty of daylight for both sites.

After the river walk at Saraswati, you could take the 45 minute drive north to the Rajaji main gate for a short jeep safari. On the way back, stop at ArtBuzz Rishikesh for a quick coffee before heading home. The kids might also enjoy the small playground near the visitor centre where they can feed deer while you watch the river. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you’re willing to stretch a bit, the KIIT University campus is only about six kilometres away. It has a small lake fed by a stream and several campus cafés that are nice for a quick break before you head back to the Botanical Garden.

You could also try the overnight bus from Dehradun that leaves around 5 pm. It arrives in Rudraprayag by 8 pm, so you’re ready for a 6 am sunrise. Staying a night at Himalayan Comforts gives you a short auto ride to the viewpoint and a chance to rest before the early light. This timing usually works well in late November through February.

If you’re staying at the Time Square Resort and Spa in Bhuj, consider heading straight to the temple right after breakfast. Grab a quick masala chai at the tea stall outside the gate, then spend about 30 minutes inside. From there, a short 5 km drive takes you to Narayan Sarovar by 11:30. Walk the perimeter, grab a snack, and you’ll be back in time for the 5 pm aarti.

The stall right next to Bindu Sarovar that serves fresh khandvi rolls is open until sunset, so you can get those translucent layers in soft evening light. It’s a quick walk from the stepwell and the steam rising from the khandvi adds a nice atmospheric touch to the shots.

You might also consider stopping at the old British tea factory in Jageshwar; it’s a short detour from the main route and offers a quick glimpse of colonial tea processing. If you’re staying near the hills, The Green Village Eco Resort Jageshwar gives easy access to both the temple and the tea gardens and the staff can arrange a local guide for a deeper walk through the estates.

The exact local sunrise time shifts a bit each year, so checking a reliable almanac a day before the equinox is handy. If you’re staying at Modhera Sunrise Resort, the staff can give you the precise time that day and you can head to the temple’s public lot around 5:10 am to beat the early crowd. Have you looked into the bus schedule from Ahmedabad for the equinox?

After the Iron Pillar, a quick walk brings you to the Alai Darwaza a nice spot to catch the mosque courtyard from a different angle. If you’re up for it, staying near Hotel Pluto's gives a convenient rest before heading to the Lotus Temple. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you can get there before 10 am the humidity is still lower and the stonework looks a bit clearer. The afternoon heat peaks around 3 4 pm, so plan a short break then. Staying at Hotel Pluto’s keeps you only 1.9 km away, so you can head back for a cool drink or a quick nap before heading out again.

If you’re shooting in October or November, the early morning right after opening is usually the quietest. The light is soft and the dome’s gilded panels catch a gentle glow before the crowds start to fill the courtyard. By late afternoon you’ll see more people, especially on weekends, so plan to finish your shots before 5 pm if you want a clear view. If you’re staying near Regenta Central Lucknow it’s a short walk to the Imambara and you can arrive early without a long commute.

Since September is just after the monsoon, the air is fresher and the evening light on the hills is still lovely. If you’re staying at Hotel O POP Foreshore Resort, you can hop out for the temple, grab a quick bite at a local tea stall, and then head back to enjoy a sunset paddle on Dal Lake.

If you’re looking for a quiet spot to catch the mosque’s carvings in good light, consider arriving a bit earlier in the day around 8 am. The sun is low, shadows are soft, and the temperature is still under 20 °C. Staying at Treebo Rock Valley gives you a short drive and a convenient base for a morning visit.

A good spot right on the Badrinath Joshimath road is the dhaba near the falls; they serve a tasty paneer bhurji and a sweet kheer that’s a local favourite. If you prefer a sit down meal after the walk, Faraway Cottages in Joshimath has a simple kitchen with typical Uttarakhand dishes. On the way back you can try the roadside churros and fresh kheer at the tea stall at the road’s end.
