If you’re staying at Uday Palace Navsari you’ll find the springs only about a 30 minute drive away, which makes it easy to head straight there after a night’s sleep. The temple’s bronze idol of Rama is set beside a small shrine for Lakshmana, a detail that reminds many visitors of the bond that ties the legend to the site.

You could stay a bit longer to catch the late night puja that goes until midnight; the chants are quieter then and you can walk around the temple tanks and see the lamps reflected in the water. If you want a place to sleep, Marasa Sarovar Premiere Tirupati is only a few kilometres away and has good reviews for convenience.

The bus 12 stop is right outside the city bus stand, so you only need a short walk from FabHotel Amaltas. If you’re heading out early in the morning or late at night, the last bus leaves around 11 pm, so a quick cab would be safer if you’re unsure about the schedule.

If you’re already in Nagpur, a private cab to Gadchiroli city takes about 4½ hours, then a local taxi gets you to the sanctuary in another 30 45 minutes. The drive from the airport is longer and would cut into your half day. If you need a place to rest before heading out, Hotel O Vinit Lodging in Nagpur is close to the train station and a good base for a quick departure.

You might also look at Hotel O Royal Regency. It’s a 4 star spot about 1.5 km from the mall and usually has a 24 hour front desk and a lockable luggage rack, which is handy if you need to leave bags after a late night.

If you’re staying near the falls, the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary offers a short guided walk that spots kingfishers and herons good for kids who like birds. After the walk, a quick 10 minute drive from Royale Park can take you to Vembanad for a sunset backwater view. This keeps the day packed but still relaxed.

From Bhubaneswar the quickest drive to Gonasika is via NH5 and then the local roads to the hill. It usually takes around four to five hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. If you have a little extra time you can detour to the nearby Raghunathpur waterfall, which is about an hour’s drive from the hill and makes a nice quick stop for the kids. The area around Gonasika also has a small picnic spot with a view of the surrounding forest, so you can stretch their legs before heading back.

You could start at Saraswati right after dawn to avoid the midday heat, then head north to Rajaji’s main gate for a 30 minute walk or a quick jeep ride. On the way back, stop at ArtBuzz Rishikesh for a light snack before heading home. If you’re looking for a quieter break, the Ganga Kinare A Riverside Boutique Resort offers a peaceful riverside spot for a quick rest.

If the zoo’s still packed, try the nearby Kufri Fun World which usually opens around 10 am and has shorter lines. While there you can grab a snack at the Radisson Kufri café and enjoy a quick hill view before heading back. The ski slopes also open early, so you could switch there for a quick snow play if you want a different vibe.

You can still hike up to the viewpoint after the last cable car the trail is clear and the lights up there give a nice twilight view of the valley. If you’re in a hurry, the Kangri café stays open until about 8 pm and serves quick Himachali thalis. A quick stop at a tea stall near the base also works; they usually stay open a bit later for snack hungry travellers. If you want a slightly more upscale bite, the Apple Orchard Resort in Dhanaulti is a short detour from Manali and offers local dishes.

If you’re staying near the city centre, the HAYATHI INN is a short walk from the Butterball. From there you can hop in a taxi for a quick 10 km ride to Kapila Theertham, then head back toward Tirumala. The whole loop takes about an hour and a half, so you’ll still have time for a quick visit to the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple before heading out.

If you’re looking for a quick stop, the five minute cab from Lodhiana Station is the fastest. If you have a few extra minutes, the 200 metre walk takes about ten minutes and lets you see the surrounding streets. After the fort you could grab a coffee at Rose Palace Hotel, just under 400 metres away, before heading back.

You could also try the temple courtyard on the western side of the fort; the light stays softer until about 8 am and the carved arches are easier to capture without crowds. If you finish early, a quick drive to Ajmer Sharif Dargah right before sunset gives a warm glow and fewer visitors. Staying at The Fern Residency keeps the commute short and gives you a comfortable base for both sites.

If you’re heading from Shillong to Umiam via NH6, the first stop after the war memorial is the old colonial watchtower at Shillong Peak it gives a quick glimpse of 19th century military strategy. A short detour from the peak to the nearby Dholai Village then shows traditional Khasi houses and a few colonial structures, adding another historical layer before you reach the lake. If you need a comfortable base in Shillong, Living Roof is only a few minutes from the highway.

Try the small riverside park right next to Shivpuri Ghat for sunrise. It opens early, gives a straight view of the Ganges, and the light on the boats is lovely before crowds arrive. For sunset, the steps at Sarnath Ghat catch a warm glow and are usually less crowded than Assi. If you need a nearby base, Hotel Abhinav International is only a short walk from both spots.
