How long should I spend at Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple after arriving late afternoon?

Kunal Adhikari · 4 weeks ago ·18 replies

I’m planning to arrive in Tirupati around 4 pm and want to make the most of my visit to Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple. The temple is open 24 hours and free to enter, so I could stay late for evening rituals. Would it be worthwhile to spend a few hours there after sunset, or should I head straight to another nearby shrine like Tirumala Temple? Also, if I stay overnight, is there a recommended place to stay close by?

The evening aarti at Sri Kalyana Venkateswara is a pretty good show, so staying a couple of hours after sunset can be worth it. You’ll get to see the temple lit up and hear the chants, and there are no entry fees. If you want to sleep close by, Marasa Sarovar Premiere Tirupati is just a few kilometres away and has good reviews for convenience.

The evening aarti at Sri Kalyana Venkateswara is quite a sensory experience the lamps glow, the chants rise, and the whole complex feels almost otherworldly. If you can stay an hour or two after sunset you’ll catch the main aarti around 6 pm and then the late night puja that goes until midnight. It’s a good way to finish the day before heading up to Tirumala the next morning. For a quick overnight stay, Marasa Sarovar Premiere Tirupati is just a few kilometres away and offers easy access to the temple.

If you’re staying a bit later, you can catch the late night puja that runs until midnight; it’s a quieter, more intimate time to experience the chants. After that you could head to Tirumala the next morning without rushing. For a comfortable overnight spot, Marasa Sarovar Premiere Tirupati is only about 4.5 km away and offers easy access to the temple.

You can also stay until the early morning aarti around 5 am; the temple lights up again and the chants are even quieter. If you want a comfortable overnight spot, Marasa Sarovar Premiere Tirupati is only about 4½ km away and has good reviews. This way you can rest and still be close enough for a quick return to the complex.

If you’re there after sunset, you’ll also have the chance to walk around the surrounding tanks and see the lamps reflected in the water it’s a quieter way to experience the evening aarti. A quick stop at the nearby Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala isn’t feasible that night, but you can plan to visit it first thing in the morning. For a night’s stay, Marasa Sarovar Premiere Tirupati is a solid choice and keeps you close to the complex.
