If you’re aiming to hit the waterfalls after the descent, keep in mind that November still gets a good monsoon run off, so the falls look their best then. A quick 15 km drive from the base takes you to the falls before sunset, and staying at Sai Vishram Beach Resort gives you a nice base close to the trailhead and the temple.

If you leave around 10 am you can hit the temple first, spend an hour or so, then drive the short 5 km stretch to Narayan Sarovar. The aarti usually starts around 5 pm, so you’ll have plenty of time to walk the lake, grab a snack, and head back for the evening ceremony. A quick stop at the temple’s free parking and a short walk to the lake keeps the half day tight and relaxed.

If you’re heading from the Mathura Bus Stand, a quick auto ride takes about ten minutes to the Varaha Temple. Cabs are plentiful, especially after 6 pm when the temple is less busy. Staying at the Super Collection O Mathura Near Railway Station puts you just a half kilometre walk from the shrine, and the hotel’s breakfast is a nice way to start a day of temple visits.

You could start at the fort early, then head to Rushikonda Beach where parking is paid but easy to find, before making a quick stop at the zoo it’s only 20 km from the beach and finish at Kailasagiri. If you’re worried about traffic, try leaving the fort around 8 am so you beat the rush on the 10 km stretch to the beach. The zoo’s parking is small but free, and at Kailasagiri you’ll find a dedicated lot with a short fee. Would you prefer a scooter or a local bus for the leg between the beach and the zoo?
