The 6 pm kirtan is the highlight, and the lecture runs until about 8 pm, so leaving around 3:30 pm gives you a full evening. If you want a quieter spot, the pavilion near the main entrance is less crowded than the central hall. A quick coffee at Hotel 16 Avenue before you head out can keep you refreshed and on schedule.

The original bungalow’s roof still shows the old slate tiles shipped from England, a detail you can spot when you climb the stone steps. Nearby, a small plaque by the Putudi trail explains the British plan to set up tea and coffee terraces and how the Khandi people helped plant the first rows. If you’re staying close to the hill, the Mayfair Palm Beach Resort Gopalpur offers easy access to both the museum and the waterfall trail.

You could also visit the local monasteries that line the town’s outskirts entry is free and the architecture is impressive. If you need a cheap place to stay, Ninashi Homestay in Tezu offers basic rooms and a chance to chat with locals. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

The bus stop sits right off NH 20, so once you hit the highway you’ll see the Uljhawan sign early. The drive cuts through a few hillier stretches, so if you’re in a car it can feel a bit winding but still pleasant. A light jacket for the early evening is a good idea, and the Bloom Hotel in Ranchi has free parking if you’re staying there.

If you’re keen on a quick cultural stop, Rewalsar’s small museum explains the local Shankara tradition and the temples around the lake have murals worth a glance. For a longer walk with more varied scenery and bird spotting, Prashar’s perimeter trek offers a sunrise view and a chance to see alpine species. Either spot gives a nice mix of nature and culture; just decide how much walking you want.

Since the Jagannath Temple is only about 10 km from the Parnashakti Temple, you could hit Jagannath first in the morning, then head to Parnashakti for the evening. The walk is roughly 15 km round trip, so you’ll finish early enough to stay overnight at a place like Radisson Blu Hotel Ranchi, which is close to both temples. This way you cover both in one day without rushing.

Since the temple is open all night you can do a quick pooja right after landing and then hop in a cab to Lalbagh; the 10 minute ride gives you a few minutes to stroll before 6 pm. If you’d prefer a nearby base for the night, Vivanta Bengaluru, Residency Road is only a few minutes away.

If you’re heading out around 4 5 PM, the small fishing pier in Diglipur is almost empty. A quick stop at the kiosk right by the pier lets you grab fresh coconut water before you stroll along the shore. It’s a nice, low traffic option that still gives you a good view of the sunset.

A good order is to hit the museum first, then the bamboo garden inside, and finish with Adyanpara. From Hotel Park Residency you can walk a mile to the museum, then a short taxi ride to the bamboo garden. After that, take a local bus or a cab to Kakkadampoyil; the route heads toward the waterfall and is about 15 km. This keeps you moving in one direction and avoids back tracking.

If you’re not staying at The Mourya Inn, you might also check out the small stall called “Sampath” on the corner of the main road. It opens at 6 a.m. and is known for its spicy upma and fresh coconut chutney. From the temple, walk straight down the main road for about 200 metres, then turn left; the stall will be on your right. It’s a quick walk and the food is very local.

Since you’ll be up early, Anjuna’s market starts around 6 am and you can stroll through the stalls while the sun rises over the sea. The beach itself is quieter in the morning than Vagator, so you’ll get a peaceful stretch before heading back to the fort. If you want a quick rest later, the Shatavari Eco Resort is a calm spot a short drive away.

If you’re already heading back toward the main road after the falls, you could arrange a pickup to the Royale Lalawi Hotel in Aizawl. It’s about 440 km away but the hotel can handle the transfer for you, saving a separate drive back to Tawang. Just let them know your arrival time and they’ll coordinate the drop off. You might want to ask the temple guide about the 1650 stone slab in the courtyard it lists the original Maratha chief who commissioned the shrine, which helps place the temple in the broader context of 17th century regional politics. If you’re staying in Raipur, a quick stay at Hukam’s Lalit Mahal keeps you close to the site.

The western watchtower is a quieter spot after sunset, giving you a 360 degree view of the illuminated walls and city lights. If you’re looking for a place to stay nearby, Townhouse OAK Hotel C Pearls in Bahadurgarh is just over seven kilometres away and has a nice terrace for evening views.

Borra Caves are best seen in the late morning or early afternoon when the light hits the stalactites nicely. If you’re short on time, you can skip the coffee plantation and head straight from Araku to the caves it’s only about an hour drive. A local taxi will get you there quicker than the state bus, but if you prefer public transport, the bus runs every two hours from Araku. If you want a comfortable base after the trip, Casa Woods Resort @ Araku Valley is just a short walk from the main road.
