Couple planning trip to Paderu: best nearby attractions to visit

Simarjit Gowda · 2 weeks ago ·18 replies

We’re a couple looking at a short getaway around Paderu and wondering which nearby spots to hit. Paderu to Araku Valley is about 112 km and to Borra Caves about 90 km – are these two worth doing in one day? And what’s the easiest way to move between them, by taxi or bus?

A good way to cover both spots in one day is to leave early from Paderu, drive to Araku Valley, spend a few hours exploring the coffee plantations and the Tribal Museum, then head straight to the Borra Caves. The drive from Araku to the caves is about 30 km and takes roughly an hour, so you can finish the cave visit by mid afternoon. If you want a comfortable base in Araku, Casa Woods Resort offers easy access to the main road and is just a short walk from the town centre. Taxi or a hired car is the most flexible option, but local buses run between Paderu and Araku and then from Araku to the caves, though schedules can be sparse.

You could leave around 6 am from Paderu so you get to Araku by mid morning, spend a few hours there, then head straight to the caves. The Araku to Borra drive is only about 30 km, so you’ll finish the cave tour by early afternoon and still have time to return. A private taxi or a hired car gives the most flexibility, especially if you want to stop at a coffee plantation or the Tribal Museum on the way. If you prefer public transport, the local buses run between Paderu and Araku, but the next leg from Araku to the caves is less frequent, so check the timetable ahead of time. If you decide to stay overnight, Casa Woods Resort @ Araku Valley is conveniently located near the main road and within walking distance of the town centre.

You could also stop at the coffee plantation on the way to Araku it’s only a few minutes off the main road and gives a quick taste of the local produce. If you want a comfortable base in Araku, Casa Woods Resort @ Araku Valley is a convenient option. Just keep an eye on the bus timetable for the Araku Caves leg, as they run less frequently.

If you’re okay with a bit of waiting, the state bus from Araku to the Borra Caves runs roughly every two hours, so you can plan a short coffee plantation stop before heading to the caves. A private taxi will get you there in about 30 minutes and lets you pause at any spot you like, but it will cost a bit more. If you decide to stay overnight in Araku, Casa Woods Resort @ Araku Valley is a convenient option.

You can squeeze both in one day if you leave early. After Araku, the 30 km drive to Borra takes about an hour, so you’ll finish around mid afternoon. A private taxi gives you the freedom to stop at a coffee plantation or the Tribal Museum, while the state bus runs every two hours from Araku to the caves. If you want a comfortable base in Araku, Casa Woods Resort @ Araku Valley is a convenient option.

If you’re aiming for a quick round trip, you can start early at Paderu, hit Araku around 9 am, spend a couple of hours at the coffee plantation near the main road, then head straight to the Borra Caves. If you want to squeeze both spots in one day, a private taxi is best for the 30 km stretch from Araku to Borra it takes about an hour and lets you stop at the coffee plantation or the Tribal Museum on the way. After the caves, you can head back to Paderu around mid afternoon. If you decide to stay overnight, Casa Woods Resort @ Araku Valley is a convenient base just off the main road.

Borra Caves are best seen in the late morning or early afternoon when the light hits the stalactites nicely. If you’re short on time, you can skip the coffee plantation and head straight from Araku to the caves it’s only about an hour drive. A local taxi will get you there quicker than the state bus, but if you prefer public transport, the bus runs every two hours from Araku. If you want a comfortable base after the trip, Casa Woods Resort @ Araku Valley is just a short walk from the main road.

A quick way to get the two spots in one day is to catch an early state bus from Paderu to Araku around 6 7 am. From Araku the next bus to the Borra Caves usually departs around 10 am, so you can reach the caves by 11 am, spend a couple of hours, and head back before dusk. If you prefer more control, a short taxi ride from Araku to the caves takes about 30 minutes and lets you pause at any coffee plantation or the Tribal Museum on the way. After the caves you can catch a return bus to Paderu or head straight back if you’re staying in Araku.
