How to get to Biodiversity Park and nearby sites in Guwahati?

Ragesh Ranganathan · 9 hours ago ·6 replies

We’re planning a short weekend trip to Guwahati and want to visit the Biodiversity Park, but we’re not sure how best to get there and to the nearby spots like Kamakhya Temple or Assam State Zoo. Since the park is open all day and free, we’d like to know if it’s easier to take a cab or use the local bus. Also, is it practical to hop between the park and the 10‑km‑away Kamakhya Temple in the same day?

If you’re staying near the city centre, a local bus will drop you close to the Biodiversity Park and then a short taxi ride can take you to Kamakhya Temple. The park is about 10 km from the temple, so you can walk back to the bus stop and catch a return bus in the late afternoon. If you prefer a quicker round trip, a single way taxi from the park to the temple takes roughly 30 minutes. If you’re staying at The Greenwood Resort, the resort’s concierge can arrange a short ride for you.

If you’re staying near the city centre, the local bus route 11A stops right by the Biodiversity Park and then you can hop on a quick taxi to Kamakhya Temple. The Assam State Zoo is just a 5 minute drive from the park, so you could easily fit a quick visit in the same afternoon.

The Assam State Zoo is just a 5 minute drive from the Biodiversity Park, and the same local bus 11A that drops you by the park also stops near the zoo entrance. If you want to swing by both sites before heading to Kamakhya Temple, you could take the bus to the zoo in the morning, hop back to the park for a quick walk, then catch a taxi or the 11A again for the 10 km ride to the temple. This keeps the day tight but doable.
