You could swap the order if you want a bit more daylight at the hill. Start at Silk City early, then drive the 10 km to Janapada Loka for a quick 90 minute visit. After lunch, head to Ramadevara Betta for the 5 km trek, which takes about 45 minutes. This keeps the drive short and lets you enjoy the hill walk when it’s cooler. If you need a place to stay, Wonderla Resort is a convenient option nearby. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you’re close to the station, you can catch a local taxi right outside the platform it usually takes about ten minutes. If you prefer a cheaper option, the city bus that departs from the Dehradun Bus Stand takes roughly twenty to twenty five minutes, but you’ll need to walk a few minutes to the bus stand first. A quick walk of about a kilometer from the station will also bring you to Vishnu Lok near Dehradun Railway Station if you’d like to pick up a cab from there.

Radisson Chandigarh Zirakpur runs a free shuttle that drops guests right at Elante Mall’s entrance, so you can hop off and walk to the city centre if you need a quick ride. If you’re looking for an even tighter budget but still want a quick auto to the mall, check a guesthouse on the main road near the bus stop they usually offer single rooms for under 1500 INR. Do you need any specific transport tips for late night trips?

If you only have a few hours, the Subramanya Temple still gives the fastest shot of its gopuram. If you can spare an extra half hour, the Undavalli Caves are worth the drive the rock cut mandap and the natural light on the carvings make for a striking photo. Afterward, the Lemon Tree Premier Vijayawada is a convenient place to relax.

You might want to time the Sepahijala shots a bit later in the afternoon. The light there softens after noon, reducing harsh shadows on the dense canopy, but still keeps the foliage bright enough for good contrast. Staying at Hotel Anurag Palace keeps you within a few minutes of the museum and the route to Neermahal, so you can shoot the museum early and then head to the sanctuary before the light fades.

If you’re already heading back toward the main road, you’ll find a small roadside stall called “Brahmam” about 250 m from the temple. They open at 6 a.m. and serve spicy upma with fresh coconut chutney. It’s a quick walk, and you can grab a cup of filter coffee on the way back to the temple or to your hotel.

You can also hop on a shared auto rickshaw from the Mandvi bus stand; it takes about 25 minutes and costs a fraction of a cab, but you still get a direct drop at the palace gate. If you want a quick beach break afterward, White Sands Bay Mandvi is only a short walk from the palace entrance. This way you keep the day tight but still enjoy a brief coastal stretch.

If you’re looking for a quieter spot, try heading out around 5:15 am. The dunes are still dark and the sun just starts to lift, giving a nice silhouette before the light softens. A lightweight tripod is still useful for the longer exposures. After shooting, a quick coffee at the Goa Marriott Resort & Spa, just under a kilometre away, can be a nice break.

Rajrappa is a good choice if you can spare a couple of hours; the river view is especially nice in the early light. If you want something closer, the village of Jambusar is only fifteen minutes away and has a quiet 17th century temple and a calm riverbank that’s ideal for a quick stroll before the day gets busy. From there you can head back to Hazaribagh National Park or to a hotel like the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ranchi for a relaxed break.

If you get there by 9 am you can spend about 45 minutes in the Dutch House museum and then stroll the lawns. A quick 20 minute walk from the palace brings you straight into Fort Kochi’s old quarter, so you’ll still have time to grab a coffee at the Marine Inn Hotel before heading back.

If you’re pressed for time, start at the main ghat around 5 pm so the sunset glow is on. A quick 15 minute boat hop will show the temples from the water, then you can walk a few minutes to the Brahma Temple for the evening prayers. After that, a short stroll to Jwalamalini will let you see its lantern display before you head back. If you need a place to sit, the pavilion near the main ghat is free.

You might want to stay at FabHotel Prime Royal Inn since it’s only a few steps from the temple and still keeps the price low. After a day of walking, head to Bihu Dhara on the opposite side of the street they serve a classic fish curry and pitha that locals love. If you’re curious about any side dishes, let me know!

If you stay at Humming Bird By Aaryam on Day 1, you’re already a short walk from Madhyamaheshwar. From there you can catch the 10 am shared taxi to Tungnath and have it drop you back near the temple in the evening. That way you skip the return bus to Rishikesh and can head straight to the 4 km trek to Chopta the next morning. What time do you plan to start the Chopta walk?

You might also grab a quick cup of masala chai from the stall on the left side of the path; it’s very popular before the evening pooja. If the stalls get busy, the ARTILLA INN is only a short walk away and has a small cafeteria that serves Gujarati thali items, giving you a quieter spot to eat.

The Japanese Garden is a good first stop because it stays open all night and you can stroll to Sukhna Lake in about fifteen minutes to catch the sunset. From there you’ll be just a short drive away from the Golden Temple, so you can arrive before the evening service starts at 8 pm and avoid the peak crowds. If you need a quick break before heading to the temple, a short stay at Tulip Inn Zirakpur keeps you within a ten minute drive of both the lake and the shrine.
