Best budget stay near Lalring for visiting Durtlang Hills

Taranjeet Phadke · 11 hours ago ·6 replies

Which budget-friendly accommodation near Lalring gives me the best value for visiting Durtlang Hills? I know the area is open all day and free to enter, and Durtlang Hills is only 10 km away. The URBAN LIVING hotel in Aizawl is just 0.3 km from the city centre – is that the most convenient low-cost option?

If you want the shortest walk to the city centre, the Emerald Hotel is only a 13 metre radius away, a bit closer than Urban Living. Both are within a few hundred metres of the main road that takes you to Durtlang Hills, so either would let you hop on a local taxi or bus for the 10 km trek without much extra travel time.

You could also check the Aizawl Guest House. It sits a bit farther from the city centre than Urban Living but still within 2 km, and it has a good mix of price and comfort. The rooms are simple but clean, and many guests note that the staff can arrange a local taxi to Durtlang Hills. It might give you a bit more space for the same budget.

If you’re okay with a little extra walk, the Emerald Hotel’s proximity to the main road means you can catch a local bus or taxi to Durtlang Hills right away. The hotel also offers free Wi Fi and a small breakfast buffet, which can save you a few rupees compared to buying street food on the way. If you’d rather stay a bit farther out, Aizawl Guest House is only 1.8 km away and still has good transport links.

If you’re looking for the cheapest spot that still keeps you close to the main road, the Urban Living hotel is a solid pick. It’s only about 0.3 km from the centre and sits right next to the bus line that heads up to Durtlang Hills, so you’ll save a few minutes walking to the taxi stand. The rates are lower than the Emerald, but the location is just as convenient for a quick trip up the hills.

If you’re okay with a short walk, the Aizawl Guest House is about 1.8 km from the city centre and still sits right on the main road that feeds the bus line to Durtlang Hills. The staff can help you arrange a local taxi, and the rooms are a bit larger than Urban Living for a similar price. Does that sound like the balance you’re looking for?
