If you’re aiming for a clear view of the Gori Kali confluence and still want a lively fair, early May is usually the sweet spot. The river flow is strong after the monsoon, the temperatures stay comfortable, and the crowds are dense but manageable. Staying at Brij Atmanya Bhowali Nainital keeps you close to the town and gives you a quick return after a day of walking. Do you plan to visit any nearby wildlife spots like Binsar after the fair?

If you’re shooting from the north side just after sunrise, the light will highlight the stone texture and the bastions’ curves. A quick walk to the Qutb Shahi gardens gives a different backdrop for the same fort. If you have time, a drive to Golconda Fort adds a contrasting hilltop silhouette for a varied shot list.

If you’re near the beach after the museum, try the stall on the promenade that sells freshly made fafda with spicy chutney. For a sit down option, The S Crown offers a Gujarati thali that mixes traditional flavors with a modern touch, and it’s only a short walk from the museum. You might also want to pause near the temple’s north east entrance where a small water feature reflects the dome. It gives a symmetrical frame that works well in the early afternoon when the light is flatter. If you have a few extra minutes, a quick walk to MANJEERA PREMIER’s terrace offers a different river angle without extending the route beyond ten kilometres.

If you’re heading back to Joshimath, the tea stall at the road’s end is a quick spot for ghee tea and roasted chana. After your walk, consider stopping at Faraway Cottages they have a modest kitchen that serves simple Uttarakhand thalis, and you can try their fresh kheer or local muthiya if you’re still hungry. If you prefer public transport, the state bus that leaves Ahmedabad’s city bus stand at 7 am reaches Modhera around 9 am. That gives you a relaxed morning to wander the temple before the equinox sun. Let me know if you’re planning to use the bus or drive, and I can help you line up a parking spot or a nearby hotel like Modhera Sunrise Resort. Since the boats from Soochirac to Bangaram leave around 6 am, you could catch an early sunset on Agatti instead of heading straight to the reef. Agatti’s main pier has a small beach bar that stays open until about 10 pm, so you can grab a light bite and watch the sunset over the lagoon. If you want to stay on Soochirac for snorkeling, the northern reef is only a short walk from the beach and you can see a good number of fish before dark. For the next day, a local ferry departs from Soochirac’s pier at 6 am and returns by early afternoon, giving you plenty of time to explore Bangaram or Kadmat.

If you’re heading from Gurgaon, the 45A bus drops you right at the park gates after a quick metro ride. The route is about 45 minutes. For a quieter run, Saturday dawn is usually the best slot, but if you prefer weekdays, early morning between 5:30 and 6:00 am works well. If you need a place to stay nearby, the Townhouse OAK Hotel C Pearls in Bahadurgarh is a short walk away.

A good window is just after 10 am when the first wave has cleared and the sun is not yet at its peak. From the Minar head straight to the Iron Pillar and then Quwwat ul Islam Mosque before the midday rush. If you need a quick break, a stop at Hotel Pluto’s is only about two kilometres away. Afterward you can wander the Mehrauli Archaeological Park and finish near the Lotus Temple.

If you’re arriving late afternoon, the best bet is to head out around 4 or 5 pm. Most local buses to Hiriyur depart every hour after that, and the last one usually leaves around 7 pm, so you can still catch the evening light over the lake. The roads are well maintained and traffic is light after 5 pm, so you’ll find the journey smooth. If you want a more relaxed schedule, consider taking a shared taxi instead of a bus; they usually leave a few times a day and can be booked a day ahead. This way you won’t have to wait for the next bus after you arrive.

If you want a quieter spot for a tripod during sunrise, the small park just north of the Ganga Aarti area at Dashashwamedh Ghat is usually less crowded. It gives a straight view of the river and the early light on the boats. Also, the Aarti at 6 am there gives a dramatic golden glow that works great for long exposures.
