You might want to stop by the small museum right at the Srisailam gate. It has a few panels from the 8th century Chalukya period that show how the iconography evolved before the Vijayanagara additions. After that, a quick walk to the watchtowers in Kurnool lets you see the fortifications that once guarded the route. Does anyone know if the temple has a guide who can explain the Prakrit panels at the base of the sanctum?

If you’re heading out from Jammu Tawi, you can usually find a shared auto right next to the bus stand as soon as the buses arrive. The driver will often wait a few minutes for passengers, so you don’t need to chase a cab after the bus drops you off. If you plan to stay the next day, the Khyber Himalayan Resort & Spa in Gulmarg is a convenient base for the following morning.

If you’re short on time, a quick walk to the Tlawng River from the Emerald Hotel saves a few minutes, then a cab to Durtlang Hills lets you catch the early sunset over the ridge. The hills are best visited after the river when the light is softer and the crowds thin.

A quick walk from the south side of the station takes you to a small tea stall that serves steaming masala chai, a favorite of commuters. If you have a bit more time, the 3 kilometre stroll to Janakpur Dham is doable and lets you capture some of the temple’s carved pillars up close.

The mosque’s main prayer hall faces north, so visiting between 10 am and noon gives a gentle light on the stone arches without the harsh midday glare. If you stay at Treebo Rock Valley you can drive straight there, catch the light, and then head back before the heat rises.

If you’re heading straight from the airport, a quick stop at the free parking lot near the temple that opens at 9 am can give you a breather before the steep climb. After the temple, you could take a local bus or auto to the caves, which open at 8 am and are quieter early. The Capital O Siddartha Grand is a short walk from the airport if you want to drop luggage before the bus ride.

If you want a quick taste of history and scenery, start with the Prakasam Barrage, then head to the Undavalli Caves. After the caves, a short drive to Gandhi Hill gives a panoramic city view before you return to the museum. On the way back, you could stop for a coffee at Capital O Siddartha Grand, which is only about 300 metres from the museum entrance.

If you’re coming from Gurgaon, you could also take the 45A bus directly from the nearest metro station; it drops you right at the park gates so you can start your run immediately. For a quieter slot, Saturday dawn is usually the least crowded, but if you prefer a weekday, an early 5:30 to 6:00 am run works well. If you need a place to stay nearby, the Townhouse OAK Hotel C Pearls in Bahadurgarh is just a short walk away.

If you’re staying at Casa De Alnena, the museum is only a 30 minute walk from the hotel. After a 90 minute visit, you could head straight to Benaulim Beach for a quick stretch, then hop on a scooter for the 3 km ride to Colva. The beach walk is usually quiet after 5 pm, especially in November February when evenings stay cool.

If you’re looking for a bite after the cable car shuts, the Kangri café at the valley base is a good spot. It usually stays open until about 8 pm and offers Himachali thalis, channa daal and gajar paratha that are quick to eat. Do you have a particular dish you’re craving, or would you prefer something lighter before heading back to Manali?

Parking is only a few rupees and the lot is right outside the main gate. After parking you can walk straight to the courtyard, and the Townhouse OAK Hotel C Pearls is a short stroll away if you need a place to rest.

Kinnerasani is a solid detour the main trail takes about an hour and you’ll see deer, peacocks and sometimes crocodiles by the riverbank. If you’re looking for a quick bite afterward, the nearby village market sells local snacks and handmade bangles, so you can stretch your legs and refuel before heading back.

If you head out from Saputara around 4 pm you’ll hit Dang Forest by about 5:30. That gives roughly an hour before sunset to walk a short trail, then you can drive back by 7 pm and still catch dinner in Saputara. Staying at Patang Residency the next night keeps the travel time low and you’re only about 21 km from the forest entrance.

If you’re already near Dimapur, a direct cab to Khomi is usually the fastest. The 45 50 km stretch takes about 1½ to 2 hours. If you prefer a stopover, you could head to Kohima first and stay at the Niraamaya Retreats Aradura Kohima, then catch a shared taxi the next morning. The train to Dimapur takes an hour, after which the cab time stays the same.

If you’re already in Dimapur, a straight cab to Khomi is the quickest. The road is about 50 km and usually takes 1½ to 2 hours. Buses to Kohima add a stop and a second transfer, so the total time goes up. If you need a place to stay in Kohima before heading out, the Niraamaya Retreats Aradura Kohima is a convenient base.
