You could take the main coastal road straight from the airport, stop at Baga Beach, then follow the narrow beach road that hugs the shoreline to Calangute. That keeps you close to the sea and avoids the busier commercial stretch. If you want a quick refresh before Tito’s, The Kimaya By the Sea is only a short walk from Baga Beach.

Rishikonda’s stalls usually close a bit earlier than the ones on Vizag Beach, so if you’re staying late you’ll find more options on Vizag. After sunset the small cluster right on the promenade near the Submarine Museum keeps going until about 8 pm, so that’s a good fallback if the beach stalls are already shut. Do you have a particular dish in mind, or are you just looking for the freshest fish on the board?

You could also take a quick 40 minute bus from Nagpur to Gadchiroli town and then a local taxi to the sanctuary; it’s a bit slower than a cab but you avoid the long drive from the airport. If you’re already near Nagpur, a private cab to the town and then a short taxi to the park is the cleanest half day plan. Do you need a place to grab a quick bite before heading out?

If you’re staying at Niraamaya Retreats Aradura Kohima, the garden is almost empty by 12 pm on weekdays. That window lets you enjoy a quiet stroll and still have daylight for photos. Try heading out just after lunch; the walk is short and you’ll avoid the 4 pm crowd.

Sounds like a solid plan. If you’re thinking about an overnight stay after the fort and Hussainiwala, the Ramada by Wyndham Amritsar is a good option, just a short drive away. It has family rooms and is close to the highway, so you can get back to the fort area without a long detour.

You can also catch a local taxi from the bus stand they usually drop you right at the main gate and the ride takes about five minutes. After the prayers head straight to the kitchen for the free thali; no registration is required. If you have a few minutes after the langar and want a quick rest before heading to Rishikesh, the Ambrosia Sarovar Portico in Haridwar is about eleven kilometres away and offers decent rooms.

If you want to catch the first prayers, the Rama shrine opens early in the morning; most devotees arrive before sunrise. After the ritual, the baths are usually quieter, which many find more relaxing. A good base close enough to leave early is the Uday Palace Navsari.

The Biodiversity Park is only a five minute walk from the museum, so you can fit a quick stroll in before it closes. The Eco Village sits about 20 minutes away by car; if you want a quiet nature break you’ll need to budget that extra drive. If you stay at Its Hotels Buddha Inn you’ll be within a kilometre of the park, Golghar and museum, which keeps travel time to a minimum. How early are you thinking of starting the day?

You might want to ask the Srisailam Guest House if they provide a simple breakfast. Some of the local hostels include a small kitchen area where you can grab a quick meal before heading out to the temple, which can be handy if you’re staying overnight and want to avoid a late night snack.

If you only have a few hours, Sirpur is the logical choice because you can walk the temples and stupas without paying and you’re free to stay until dusk. Kanger Valley, on the other hand, needs a full day to cover the trails and wildlife sightings, and the round trip takes roughly four hours. So with limited time, head to Sirpur; if you can spare a full day and want a nature break, then Kanger Valley is worth the extra drive.

If you’re looking for a quick drop off, try staying at the Lemon Tree Premier Bhubaneswar. The front desk can arrange a cab that takes you straight to Lalitgiri, and the drive is about an hour, so you won’t be stuck waiting. The hotel’s rooms are modern and the service is consistently good, so you’ll get a comfortable rest before heading out.

A quick detour to the Umiam Lake viewpoint right by the dam gives a panoramic shot of the reservoir and surrounding hills before you head back to Shillong. If you’re staying in the city, Living Roof is just a few minutes from the highway and offers easy access to the route.

If you’re aiming for sharp contrast, try shooting from the west side after the sun has passed the fort’s peak. The light will bathe the upper bastions in a soft wash while the lower walls catch deeper shadows, giving a dramatic profile. A quick detour to Golconda’s hilltop gives a different horizon line and lets you capture the same golden hour from a higher perspective.

If you’re looking to hit the fair and keep the heat manageable, early May works well temperatures stay comfortable and the crowd is still lively. If you’d rather avoid the peak and enjoy milder weather, late September to mid October is a solid choice; the river flow is steady and the crowds thin. For a base near Nainital that’s close to the fair, The Green Village Eco Resort Jageshwar offers a good mix of comfort and convenience.

Tip n Top usually quiets after the lunch rush, so a 4 pm visit should still give you a decent spot. If you do spot a few people, the small shrine just past the parking offers a quieter view and a chance to stretch your legs before heading to the fort. After that, a quick drive to Pithoragarh Fort gives a different angle of the valley. If you need a place to unwind later, The Green Village Eco Resort Jageshwar is a convenient option a bit farther out.
