If you’re staying near the city centre, you can drop a cab at Super Hotel O Jawahar Marg and hop on bus 39A. The bus stops right at Pakora Point Bus Stop, and the return trip uses the same route, so you avoid extra cab costs. The viewpoint’s parking is free, so if you prefer driving you can park there and walk to the lookout.

If you’re only around for a few hours, the glasshouse at Lalbagh is a quick highlight you can see the glasshouse and the lake in about ten minutes. Afterward, a short walk to Vivanta Bengaluru, Residency Road, gives you a nice coffee break before you head back. The hotel’s café is known for its quick service and good espresso.

You might also want to bring a light raincoat October still sees occasional afternoon showers in the region, so a quick umbrella can keep you dry while exploring the park’s trails. The humidity stays moderate, making the evenings pleasant for a relaxed dinner at HOTEL BALLERINA.

A pre booked taxi from the airport is the simplest way to get to Taluka in the morning. The drive takes roughly 45 minutes, and you’ll arrive before most buses run. If you prefer a bus, check the local timetable at the Rishikesh station for the first departure after 7 am.

Sunset around 5:30 6:00 pm gives a soft back light that makes the temple’s stone carvings pop as a silhouette. The light is best when the sun is just behind the temple, so plan to be there a bit before dusk. After that, a short walk to the Golghar gives a great contrast of the ancient mound against the evening sky. If you’re staying nearby, The Red Velvet Hotel Samarpan is a convenient base for the walk.

If you’re staying at ARTILLA INN you’ll be just a short walk from the Artist Village. Since it’s free and open 24 hours, you could spend about two to three hours on the key exhibitions and a workshop, then linger for the evening art talks that usually run until around nine. If you prefer a quieter end to the day, a quick 15 minute walk to Sabarmati Ashram will get you there before sunset. Either way the schedule lets you adjust the visit length to your arrival time.

If you’re shooting the stone carvings, try the Shankheshwar complex after the festival crowds thin. The open courtyard lets you frame the details without people in the foreground. For a cheap stay just a short walk away, the Platinum Hotel offers decent rooms and easy access to the temple area.

You might also want to check that the Uljhawan bus stop is on the main NH20 and is about 3 km from the town centre, so you can walk a short stretch after the drive. If you plan a sunset walk, the light is usually golden around 6 pm in October. Are you thinking of staying at the Bloom Hotel Ranchi for easy airport access?

A trick that works well is to bring a polarising filter when you shoot the gold leaf from the north east corner. It cuts glare off the metalwork while still letting the sunrise wash the carved panels with soft light. The corner is usually clear before the crowd arrives, and you can frame the full dome in the background with the stone pillars fronting the shot.

You could head out a bit earlier, around 5:00 am, and capture the golden wash before the sun fully rises. A lightweight tripod is handy for those first few minutes of low light, and it lets you use a slower shutter to catch the subtle haze. If you stay past dawn, the Mandovi River will reflect that same glow, giving you a nice contrast to the beach shot. A nearby spot like the Goa Marriott Resort & Spa is close to the shore and offers a quiet spot to set up.

The temple’s courtyard also hosts a small shrine dedicated to a local saint who is said to have performed miracles during the Maratha occupation. Visiting that niche early in the morning lets you see the original stone carvings that survive from the 1650 slab, giving a tangible link to the period. If you’re staying in Raipur, a quick night at Hukam’s Lalit Mahal puts you within walking distance of the site.

A good rule of thumb is to spend about two to three hours at the palace to walk through the gardens and see the Dutch colonial buildings up close. From there you can walk to Fort Kochi in roughly twenty minutes on foot, which gives you a quick stroll through the historic streets without a long detour. If you’re staying near the island, the Marine Inn Hotel is a convenient base for that walk.

If you leave the station around 10 am, you’ll catch a bus or shared auto that drops you near the shore by 11 am. The return will be back by 1 pm, giving you roughly two hours on the beach before heading to the next leg of your journey. The shared auto is a bit pricier than the bus but gets you closer to the water, which can be handy if you’re tight on time. If you need a quick shower before you head back, the Kokanwadi Resort in Dhokamale is only about 18 km away and offers budget rooms.

The valley of flowers closes in early September, so in October you’ll mainly see Chopta’s pine forests and the higher trails. After visiting Madhyamaheshwar, you can catch a local shared taxi around 10 am for the 2 hour climb to Tungnath. Staying at Humming Bird By Aaryam keeps you within walking distance of the temple and gives easy access to the shared taxis for both the trek to Chopta and the return to Ukhimath.

You could also take the 4 p.m. state bus from Jaipur City Bus Stand; it stops at the Nawalgarh bus stand. From there the Jhunjhunu railway station is about 25 km, roughly a 35 minute drive. If you’re staying in Mandawa, the Roop Niwas Kothi Hotel is close by and could be convenient for a quick break.
