You could also stop at the Kinnerasani River near the sanctuary there’s a small picnic area with a view of the river and a few walking paths that let you see the forest from a different angle. It’s only a few minutes from the main entry and works well if you’re looking for a quick nature break.

Near the Lord Birsa Munda Temple you’ll find a few small stalls selling bhutta, chaat and bhajis right on the road. If you’re after a more varied tribal menu, head a short walk to the market area around the Jagannath Temple there’s a popular stall that serves litti chokha and murukku. A quick ride to the Rock Garden takes you to the food court where you can try bamboo shoots and local sweets. If you prefer a place to sit, FabHotel Amaltas is only about 0.75 km away and has a modest restaurant that offers some regional dishes.

You can comfortably hit the museum for about two hours that gives you enough time to explore the interactive displays and the recreated village. From there you can walk a kilometre to Benaulim Beach and then hop on a bus or scooter for the 3 km stretch to Colva. The November to February window is indeed the driest, with cooler evenings, so it’s a good choice. If you’re staying nearby, Casa De Alnena is only half a kilometre from the museum, so you could drop by after your walk.

A quiet time is usually right after sunrise when the stalls are still opening and the crowd is thin. The spice stalls cluster around the corner that faces the bazaar square, so you’ll find fresh cardamom, cumin and garam masala there. Walking from Hawa Mahal takes about 15 to 20 minutes, so you can grab a chai at a nearby tea stall on the way and enjoy a relaxed stroll before the afternoon rush.
