You could walk the short 200 meter stretch from the bus stand to the Kedarnath Temple, then head east on the Kedarnath Khatling road to Chorabari. The same drive gives a quick view of the Vasuki Tal viewpoint and a side track to a small waterfall that feeds the lake. After the trek, a convenient overnight spot is Himalayan Comforts in Rudraprayag, about 22 km away.
