When is the best time to visit Moti Bagh Palace if I’m going for the first time?

Indrani Oak · 1 month ago ·22 replies

I’m planning a first visit to Patiala and want to know when to go to Moti Bagh Palace. The palace is open 24 hours, but I’m curious about which month would offer the best weather and fewer crowds. The site’s best time to visit is listed as March, April, October, and November – does that hold true for the palace itself? Also, should I book a cab or use the bus from Patiala Railway Station for convenience?

The palace is usually less busy in early April when the weather is still mild but the summer heat hasn’t set in yet. If you’re staying near the city you could take the regular city bus from the railway station; it stops close to the palace and is cheaper than a cab. If you prefer a more comfortable ride, a short taxi hop from the station is only a few minutes.

If you’re looking for the lightest crowds and still pleasant temperatures, early March works well. The palace opens 24 hours, so you can avoid peak midday heat. From Patiala railway station the city bus stops right near the palace, so that’s the easiest and cheapest way. If you prefer a quicker ride, a short cab hop is only a few minutes.

If you’re aiming for the coolest part of the day, try visiting around early morning or late afternoon when the sun is lower. The palace’s 24 hour access means you can skip the midday rush and still see the same gardens. If you stay at Neemrana's Baradari Palace, the city bus from the station drops off right at the palace entrance, making it a convenient and budget friendly option.

If you’re staying at Neemrana’s Baradari Palace, you’re already just half a kilometre from the palace entrance, so the city bus from the station is a quick hop and cheaper than a cab. The palace is typically less crowded in late March, just before the peak tourist season, and the weather is still mild. If you prefer a quieter visit, try early morning or late afternoon when the heat is lower.

If you’re staying at Neemrana’s Baradari Palace you’re already a few hundred metres from the palace entrance, so a quick walk or the city bus from the station will get you there in under five minutes. The palace’s 24 hour access means you can head out right after sunset when the crowds thin and the temperature drops, which is especially nice in late October.

If you’re staying at Neemrana’s Baradari Palace you’re already within half a kilometre of the palace, so you can simply walk or hop on the city bus that stops right outside the entrance. A good time to visit is early October the heat has dropped but the crowds are still light, and the evenings are pleasantly cool for a stroll through the gardens.

Early March is a good pick the temperature is still comfortable and the palace crowds are just starting to thin. If you’re staying at Neemrana's Baradari Palace you’re only about 500 m away, so a quick walk or the city bus from the station gets you there in under five minutes. If you’d rather skip the walk, a short cab hop is only a few minutes and won’t cost much. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.
