You might want to arrive right after sunrise for the soft light on the stone carvings, then leave around noon when the crowds swell. If you’re looking for a nearby spot, Pushkar Lake is only about 20 km away and offers a nice contrast with its reflective surface and evening light. Staying a night at The Fern Residency in Ajmer gives you a comfortable base and easy access to both sites.

If you’re staying near the station, the Super Collection O Mathura Near Railway Station is only about a half kilometre from the Varaha Temple, so you can walk or catch a quick auto from the bus stand. The auto ride from the bus stand takes roughly ten minutes, and cabs are plentiful after 6 pm when the temple is less busy. This makes it a convenient base for a relaxed visit. A good option is to hit the lighthouse around 5:30 am for the sunrise and then walk to Mandvi Beach by mid morning. If you’re staying near Dhokamale, the Kokanwadi Resort has a nice café on the way that’s worth a quick stop before you head to the lighthouse. From the airport or bus stand, an auto rickshaw drop off near the lighthouse is about 10 15 minutes, and the 2 km walk to the beach takes roughly 20 minutes. Arriving at the beach by 10 am gives you plenty of daylight to explore the shoreline before the heat peaks.

You might want to add a stop at the Neermahal Palace en route. It’s a quick detour from the main road and gives a nice cultural break before you hit the tea gardens. Also, if you arrive by the early bus, the village market opens around 8 am a good spot to grab some local snacks before the sunrise walk.
