If you’re heading to Radhanagar, stick to the coastal NH53 and leave early traffic tends to clear by 8 am. For Elephant Beach, the back road is longer but can be smoother if you leave around 9 am when the main road starts easing up. A quick stop at Heaven Stay for fuel and a traffic update can help you avoid any unexpected slow downs.

The light show usually starts at 9 pm and stays on until midnight, so if you want to catch the full display you should arrive a bit before 9. After the show the tower’s observation deck is still open until midnight, giving you a quick panoramic look before heading back. If you’re staying at the Clubhouse Hotel Chandigarh Mohali, the walk to the tower is only about ten minutes, so you can fit in the show, a quick view, and a stroll through the nearby market. How long do you plan to stay after the light show?

If you fly into Chandigarh International Airport, a quick taxi to the railway station gets you on the early 06:30 train to Rupnagar, arriving around 07:30. From the station a shared auto drops you at the gurdwara in about ten minutes. Staying in Chandigarh gives you more hotel choices, but Hotel Sarai Bharatgarh in Rupnagar keeps you just 11 km from the festival centre and lets you wake up close to the prayers.

The parking lot outside the main gate is paid but only a few minutes from the entrance, so you won’t need to hunt for a spot. If you plan to stay overnight, the Townhouse OAK Hotel C Pearls in Bahadurgarh is a five star option just a short walk from the temple, making a quick return after a day of travel hassle free.

If you’re staying at the Jai Mahal Palace you’re only a short walk from Kote Gate. The market’s best hand loom cotton and silk stalls are in the narrow lanes just inside the main gate, while the spice corner faces the bazaar square and offers fresh cardamom, cumin and garam masala. An early morning stroll after sunrise gives you the quiet and freshest aromas, and you’ll still have time to enjoy a chai at a tea stall on the way.

If you only have a single night, consider staying in Manali and taking a 2 hour drive to Tosh early in the morning. The road is flat and the kids will have time to stretch on the way. You can then hike the short 2 km loop around the village to see the pine lined valley before heading back for dinner. This gives you a taste of the trek launch pads without the overnight drive.

A good idea is to head there at first light, around 6 am, when the sun casts long shadows on the carvings and the crowd is still thin. The fort’s 24 hour access means you can stay until dusk for that golden hour glow. After you’ve covered the main walls, a quick drive to Ajmer Sharif Dargah gives a contrasting spiritual vibe and the evening light is softer. If you want a comfortable base nearby, The Fern Residency in Ajmer is a solid choice and only about 25 km from the fort.
