If you’re already in Hassan, a quick 10 minute auto from the main stand is probably easiest. The 36 bus is reliable but you’ll have to walk a mile from the stop to the temple. While you’re in the area, consider a short detour to the Belur Hoysala temples they’re only a few kilometres away and worth the extra drive. If you need a place to stay in Hassan, Palguni Residency is only half a kilometre from the bus stand.

After Bahu Fort you’re only about 4 km back to the city centre, so you can finish the loop and drop your luggage at KC Residency before heading to your next stop. This keeps the morning tight and lets you return to the hotel with plenty of time for a coffee break.

A quick 10 minute taxi from Kabbalamma straight to Lalbagh will give you a few minutes before the 6 pm closing. If you’d rather stay near the temple, the Vivanta Bengaluru, Residency Road is just a few minutes away and can serve as a good base for the next day. Does the timing of your flight match the temple’s evening pooja schedule?

If you head out early, you can catch the falls when the river is still moderate but the kids can splash safely. Afterward, consider a short walk around the nearby picnic area where there’s a shaded play zone that the little ones can enjoy while you relax. This keeps the day light and lets the kids burn off energy without a long drive back to Hotel Akanksha.

Since you’re at Sterling City Centre, you could also walk the 2 km to the park it takes about 25 minutes and you’ll pass a few stalls that sell cold drinks. If you want a quick break, the pavilion inside the main gate is shaded and has a water refill spot, so bring a reusable bottle and a light scarf to keep cool.

Treebo Nestlay Rooms Gummidipoondi is about 36 km away, so you’ll need roughly a 45 minute drive. If you’re looking for a shorter commute, you could also look into accommodations in Tiruvallur or Tiruttani, which are closer to the temple’s coordinates. Have you checked if there are local buses or shared taxis that run directly to the temple from those towns?

A single city bus hop from Motibagh Palace to Qila Mubarak and then to Sheesh Mahal keeps the fare to just a few rupees and the whole loop under 45 minutes. The stops are a five minute walk from each site, so you avoid extra auto costs. If you need a short break after the tour, Neemrana’s Baradari Palace is only half a kilometre from the last stop.

If you’re only there for a quick stop, after the statue head straight to the Sri Kshetra Temple its courtyard is a calm spot and only a few minutes away. From there you can walk to the Tunga River banks where vendors sell fresh coconut water and a few local sweets. If you need a place to stretch before you leave, Mudra midtown rooms and suites in Kalasa is a short drive away.

If you’re looking for the cheapest way to stay near the summit, a budget room at Vana Resort in Araku works well. It’s only about twelve kilometres from Deomali, so you can drive up early, hike the peak, and return before nightfall, keeping transport costs low. The resort offers simple rooms that fit a tight budget.

If you’re okay with a short trek, staying at USHODAYA RESORTS in Araku gives you a cheap base and easy access to both the coffee plantations and the trail up to Deomali. From the resort you can catch a local bus or hire a bike to reach the peak early, then return before dark and save on night stay costs. This way you get the best of both worlds without breaking the bank. TravelIndiaDeals may earn a commission if you book through this link.

If you’re heading out from the station, there’s a small roadside spot called Bharatpuri Dhaba on the main road that’s known for its tandoori kebabs and a spicy vegetable biryani. It’s open from morning till late, so you can grab a quick plate before you head on.

The airport’s taxi counter is right in the arrivals hall, so you can grab a cab as soon as you exit the baggage claim. From the railway station, the counter sits near the main waiting area, and drivers are usually on standby for the short 5 km stretch to Bahu Fort. If you’re staying near the city centre, you can also walk to the bus stop in a few minutes and hop on a 15 minute city bus to either attraction.

The fort’s cannons are great for climbing, and the walls give a clear view of the Arabian Sea kids love the wind and the sea spray. Afterward, a quick walk to Payyambalam Beach lets them splash around before heading back to a nearby spot like The Hotel Canoe.

A great low cost idea is to give the kids a small photo album and ask them to snap a picture of any bird they spot with a phone or a simple camera. They’ll learn about species and have a keepsake. If you need a budget overnight stop after the trip, the Golden Tree in Puri is close to the jetty and stays cheap.

Since the kids will be walking the whole day, you could add a quick 5 minute stroll to the Shiv Temple on the right bank; it has a small play area that keeps them entertained. If you’re thinking about staying overnight, Neemrana’s Baradari Palace in Patiala offers a comfortable family option a bit further out.
