Planning a family visit to Muni Ki Reti – which nearby spots should we add?

Arnav Patil · 3 weeks ago ·17 replies

We’re thinking about a short family trip to Muni Ki Reti next month. The place is free to enter and open all day, so we can fit it into a day‑trip. We’d like to know which nearby attractions are worth adding, especially ones that are easy for kids to walk to. Is the Beatles Ashram a good option, or should we focus on the closer spots like Triveni Ghat, Laxman Jhula, and Swarg Ashram? Also, do you think the 20 km Neelkanth Mahadev Temple is worth the drive for a family with kids?

If you’re already near the Ganges, a quick walk to Laxman Jhula and Triveni Ghat lets the kids see the bridge and the confluence without a long drive. The Beatles Ashram is a bit farther and quieter; it’s nice if you want a quieter spot but it doesn’t offer the same interactive vibe for children. Neelkanth Mahadev is 20 km away and the drive can be a bit tiring for little ones, so unless you’re set on the temple, sticking to the closer spots is usually smoother. If you need a place to stay nearby, Neemrana’s Baradari Palace in Patiala is a comfortable option.

A quick stroll from the Ganges will get the kids to the boat rides at Triveni Ghat and the view from Laxman Jhula in a few minutes. Swarg Ashram is a short walk away and has a small playground that kids usually enjoy. The Beatles Ashram is a quieter spot a little farther out; it’s more about the murals than interactive fun. If you’re not set on the 20 km drive to Neelkanth Mahadev, sticking to the close by sites keeps the day light and kid friendly.

If you’re staying near the river, you could add a quick walk to the nearby Shiv Temple on the right bank kids love the small statue and the kids’ play area. It’s only a five minute stroll from Laxman Jhula and gives a quick temple visit without the 20 km drive. If you need a place to stay after, Neemrana’s Baradari Palace in Patiala is a solid family option.

Since the kids will be walking most of the day, a quick 5 minute stroll from Laxman Jhula to the Shiv Temple on the right bank gives them a small temple visit and a play area without a long drive. If you’re looking for an extra spot that’s still close, the nearby Triveni Ghat has boat rides that usually keep little ones entertained. Would you also be interested in a quick visit to the Beatles Ashram, or would you prefer to keep everything within a 1 km radius?
