The power plant’s visitor centre also offers a quick guided walk around the turbine hall that lasts about 30 minutes. If you’re up for a bit more, the 30 kilometre drive to Kinnerasani is a solid choice; the main trail is a relaxed hour long walk where you can spot deer and peacocks. Afterward, a short stop at the village market lets you try local snacks and pick up handmade bangles. If you need a place to rest later, Lemon Tree Premier Vijayawada is a convenient option a bit further out.

The shared auto from Jammu Tawi usually takes about 45 minutes for the 35 km stretch. It stops at a few villages, so you can pick up a friend or drop someone off on the way. If you’re worried about timing, ask the driver if they’ll wait for you at the temple entrance for a short period.

You could also try a late afternoon slot, around 4 pm. The sun is lower, shadows highlight the stonework, and the temperature usually drops below 22 °C. Staying at Treebo Rock Valley keeps you just a short drive from Ponda, so you can head straight to the mosque after dinner without a long commute.

The Hidlumane Waterfalls tend to be at their most spectacular in November when the monsoon runoff is still high, but the trail is still dry enough for a safe drive. If you want to stay overnight near the base, Hotel Ambika International Byndoor gives easy access to both the temple and the trekhead, so you can hit the summit early, visit the temple at sunrise, and finish the descent before sunset.

If you’re staying near the city centre, the Sheel Mahal hotel is only a short walk from the palace and the observatory, so you can hop out early and return before the heat builds. The first guided tour at Jantar Mantar usually starts around 9 am, which gives you enough time to stroll through Albert Hall Museum before the sun climbs higher.
