The stalls in Chalakkayam are good for quick banana chips and idli vada packs, but they close by noon. If you need something more substantial before you leave, the market in Athirappilly sells fresh fruit and ready to eat snacks. A light breakfast at Niraamaya Retreats Samroha a bit further out also works if you want a sit down bite. Bring a bottle of water for the walk.
